"It was to protect Admiral Ar'alani, the officer commanding the transport that arrived an hour ago to take the freed Geroon slaves back to their world."
―Force Commander Thrawn[1]

Geroon[2] was the homeworld of the Geroon species. It was located in the Unknown Regions[1] Geroon system.[2] Around 27 BBY,[5] it was attacked by the Vagaari species. While the Vagaari forces fought the Geroon defenders, the Chiss assault cruiser Springhawk arrived, retrieving one of the Vagaari gravity field generators used to prevent the Geroon's escape to hyperspace. The Chiss fled while the Vagaari captured the planet and its people, who they used as living shields in their warships.[1]

Following the Vagaari capture of the world, Human smuggler Jorj Car'das traveled to the homeworld, where he met with the Vagaari leader, the Miskara, aboard his ship. Aboard, Car'das informed him of the Chiss' location, and all the Vagaari traveled to the Crustai system. There, the Vagaari were destroyed by Chiss droid starfighters, which fired between the Vagaari shields. Admiral Ar'alani of the Chiss Defense Fleet returned the freed Geroons aboard a transport ship to their world, which her forces freed.[1]

In 22 ABY,[6] during a reception dinner held aboard the Chiss diplomatic cruiser Chaf Envoy, Aide Chaf'ees'aklaio, core name "Feesa," of the Fifth Ruling Family explained to Dean Jinzler, that according to the First Steward Bearsh of the Geroon Remnant—who in reality was a General in the Vagaari Empirewolvkils were a feral subspecies of a predator creature native to Geroon. Jinzler felt revulsed by the fact that they kept wolvkils as pets and instead expressed his wish to never meet the creature in the woods. With sadness, Feesa assured Jinzler that would never happen, since the remaining wolvkils perished with their homeworld.[4]
