Mediation and so on

[edit]

I've got no objection to mediation if there seems to be anything to mediate, which at the moment I can't see that there is. But please be very careful about accusations levelled at other other editors, or keep your head well down and your eyes open for WP:BOOMERANGs. Here, for example, you make an unfounded accusation of vandalism against your admittedly totally incompetent predecessor and competitor, Theparkhurstco (presumably The Parkhurst Co), who is blocked, but for username reasons not for vandalism. You might perhaps want to re-read WP:AGF. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:07, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Formal mediation has been requested

[edit]
The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "LA Models". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 18 July 2014.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Terms of Use

[edit]

hi Trident13. Just want to make sure you are aware of this. Wikimedia Foundation legally owns Wikipedia. In June of this year, WMF changed the Terms of Use in this dif. The new Terms of Use, a contract to which you consent every time you access or edit Wikipedia, has a section called "Refraining from Certain Activities" which contains a subsection as follows:

Paid contributions without disclosure

These Terms of Use prohibit engaging in deceptive activities, including misrepresentation of affiliation, impersonation, and fraud. As part of these obligations, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. You must make that disclosure in at least one of the following ways:

  • a statement on your user page,
  • a statement on the talk page accompanying any paid contributions, or
  • a statement in the edit summary accompanying any paid contributions.

Applicable law, or community and Foundation policies and guidelines, such as those addressing conflicts of interest, may further limit paid contributions or require more detailed disclosure.

WMF also created an FAQ on disclosure of paid contributions.

Under the Wikipedia COI guideline, which used to be the only guidance on this issue, disclosure was strongly encouraged. Things are different now....

Request for mediation rejected

[edit]
The request for formal mediation concerning LA Models, to which you were listed as a party, has been declined. To read an explanation by the Mediation Committee for the rejection of this request, see the mediation request page, which will be deleted by an administrator after a reasonable time. Please direct questions relating to this request to the Chairman of the Committee, or to the mailing list. For more information on forms of dispute resolution, other than formal mediation, that are available, see Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.

Hi Trident13. I've made some additions to the above article but also cut out (temporarily) a complete reference to the Ford of Dagenham contribution to the war effort because so far as I know there was no connection with shadow factories though I might be quite wrong. Also strictly speaking shadow factories were managed by car manufacturers on behalf of the ministry concerned which I suppose should always be the Air Ministry. Please leave your thoughts here so I won't screw up the article. Regards, Eddaido (talk) 08:49, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Eddaido, as you may have noticed, Trident13 is indefinitely blocked for copyright violations. There's a huge CCI open here. Any article he has edited needs to be thoroughly checked for copyvio, preferably before doing any other work on it. Otherwise there's a real risk that later good-faith edits will anyway have to be erased because of earlier problems – a silly waste of valuable editor time and effort. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:10, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welsh narrow gauge slate railways

[edit]

Could you move the article "Welsh narrow gauge slate railways" back to its original title "British narrow gauge slate railways". Even though most of the railways currently in the article are Welsh, there were significant slate railways in the rest of the UK (I've just added Delabole, for example). The original title was intended to include English and Scottish slate railways, and the new title discourages people from adding them. The "British narrow gauge slate railways" title is also consistent with the rest of the "British narrow gauge" articles. Thanks, Railfan23 (talk) 17:16, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article CanadaUpdates has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article is not about a notable organization. The blog has an Alexa ranking of 489,383 worldwide. Additionally, press releases and blog posts written by the company's owner are not valid sources without being backed up by independent secondary sources. The number of article pageviews are also very insignificant, with a daily average of only three.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Category:McLaren Technology Group requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. A tag has been placed on Vion NV requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

A tag has been placed on Camper and Nicholsons, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Am I correct to assume that you were the one who created much of the original content for that page? I was hoping you and I could perhaps dialogue a bit so that I could get your perspective before going forward with edits on a person/subject I am very well informed, but unfortunately have zero experience with wikipedia.
