some discussion

[edit]

Medics would never teach a CLS guy intubation..... I'm a U.S. Army medic currently on my second deployment. Part of my job is teaching these guys their skills and that is insane. The most advanced thing they can do is give an IV or do a chest needle decompression.

Regarding medical techniques

[edit]

I have altered the article to be more inline with sourcing. If changes to the medical skills, please source. Thanks, Navou banter / review me 02:36, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA failed

[edit]

I have failed this article according to the GA criteria. Please look over the criteria to see how you can further improve the article to be able to reach GA status. Mainly, the article needs more sources and inline citations, needs to be expanded with more information to fulfill the broad requirement (maybe cover the history of the lifesaver (when did it originate, who makes it, etc.), who currently uses the lifesaver (such as military, other countries, etc.) and any other information you think will help to fully explain the subject to the reader. Keep working on it and consider GA again in the future when you think the article reaches all of the criteria. --Nehrams2020 17:39, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would be difficult to...

[edit]

write this article without published history, and most all information coming from the course curriculum. Would like to merge, any thoughts? Navou banter 21:45, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Revert from 68W

[edit]

A combat livesaver is a non-medical soldier tasked with the additional duty to perform advanced first aid on the battlefield. They are totally seperate, yet work with, the combat medic. 24.162.107.197 02:48, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have however placed the information into 68W. There is little published information and the CLS program may not be notable. Navou banter 04:03, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

Keeping with the points of notability, I do believe this article should be merged into a subset of 68W. I will place the merge banner and leave it for a few days time. If there are objections, I would ask that the banner not be removed and those objections be discussed here. Navou banter 04:18, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Revert

[edit]

As explicitly stated in the 68W article and noted by the anon above, combat lifesavers are not combat medics and are completely separate in function; therefore, I believe this article should redirect to the combat lifesaver section there rather than to the article on combat medics. Please discuss any change back before reverting. Thanks. -- Hinotori(talk)|(ctrb) 09:38, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
