William Averell Harriman (15 November 1891 - 26 July 1986) was a Human diplomat and political leader who lived in the United States of America in the 20th century.

Biography[]

In November of the year 1942, while serving as Franklin Delano Roosevelt's personal representative in Moscow, Harriman needed to return to London. Under the code name "Uncle Vanya", he flew aboard a Consolidated B-24 transport plane piloted by Lieutenant John Kirk and escorted part of the way by a Red Guard squadron that included the time-lost Pavel Chekov. While fighting German planes to enable Harriman and Kirk's escape, Chekov lost a wing and bailed out into the Baltic Sea. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)
