David Armstrong (16 October 192413 May 2016; age 91) was an actor who appeared in featured and background roles in episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation and in the two Star Trek films Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. As a background actor, Armstrong received no credit for his appearances. For "Operation -- Annihilate!", he filmed his scene on Wednesday 15 February 1967 at the TRW Space and Defense Park in Redondo Beach, California. His hat from Star Trek III was later sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay and the name tag listed him as "Dave Armstrong". [1](X)

Armstrong made an uncredited appearance in A Star Is Born (1954), as guest star Richard Webb. He also appeared as a reporter in New York, New York (1977, featuring Dick Miller. His television appearances include guest spots and background roles on Mission: Impossible, The Invaders, The Twilight Zone, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Cheers (1982 and 1983), Murder, She Wrote (1984, with Kim Darby, John Schuck, and Eric Server), Dynasty (1984, with Joan Collins, Conroy Gedeon, John Burnside, Michael Zurich, Peter Eastman, and Suzanne Lodge), Hill Street Blues (1985, with James B. Sikking, Marc Alaimo, Marco Rodriguez, Michael Chong, Marcelo Tubert, Elaine Nalee, Gene Cross, Conrad Hurtt, Dwayne McGee, and Ilona Wilson), The Colbys (1986, with Stephanie Beacham, Tracy Scoggins, Ricardo Montalban, Judson Scott, Peter White, Georgann Johnson, John Burnside, Faith Burton, Bob Davis, Ray Petersen, and Tim McCormack), and Falcon Crest (1982, 1984, and 1988, with Robert Foxworth, Roger Perry, Joanna Cassidy, John Hugh McKnight, Allan G.
