Kim Darby (born 8 July 1947; age 77) is the actress who played Miri in the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "Miri".
She filmed her scenes between Monday 22 August 1966 and Tuesday 30 August 1966 at Desilu Stage 9, Stage 10, and at the 40 Acres backlot. Darby was nineteen when she appeared in the episode. Her shapeless costume was intended to hide her figure, since she was playing a younger girl.
Darby was born Deborah Zerby in Los Angeles to vaudeville performer Inga Wiere (sister of the famous comedy troupe the Wiere Brothers) and dancer Jon Zerby, who were known together as the Dancing Zerbys, a successful nightclub act in the 1940s and 1950s. Her father named her Deborah because he thought "Derby Zerby" would be a great stage name. Neverthless, she took up the stage name "Kim Darby" when she began her acting career.
She began working as an actress at age fifteen and worked steadily until the 2010s. Probably her most famous role is that of Mattie Ross, from John Wayne's True Grit (1969, with John Fiedler, Alfred Ryder, Jeff Corey, and Ron Soble).
She is also known for her performance as Debra Strode in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995, with Mitchell Ryan, J.C. Brandy, George Wilbur, Alan Echeverria, and music by Alan Howarth).
