Hello! Just trying to get back to you about this. Actually, what I had in mind at the time was just a little project to outline some good rules of thumb for formatting and presenting information on Wikiversity, particularly for the blind. Thanks for your help. I am rushing as madly as I can to set up all the lessons. I am now separating my lesson (and the list of lessons) from general educational material about Basic Filmmaking. The new list of lessons will be a full course which is much broader (covering music education, animation, as well as filming) so it is now listed in the COURSE namespace for a special set of lessons to make an actual movie both animated and live action. There has been a lot of argument about creating a COURSE with some people allowing a new name and some saying that TOPIC is sufficient. Or perhaps it is just the name which is confusing. I am not sure. Until this is resolve, I keep the two separate. This can be easily resolve by moving the page or creating a more accurate name for the page when this is needed.

Ok. Please do remember however that neither Course: nor Lessons: are true namespaces. Actual lessons/learning materials should go into the main namespace (no prefix), Topic: could be used to present that in a structured manner (like a lesson plan perhaps or a sequence of pages). In Wikiversity, there are Schools, Divisions, Departments, Courses, and Lesson Pages. Therefore, the correct namespaces for Wikiversity should include "School", "Division", "Department", "Course" and "Lesson". Once there are one million pages in Wikiversity, you will never be able to find anything if you use names which have no meaning such as "Topic" and "Main Namespace". The only thing which makes sense is to call a lesson page a "Lesson" and to call a list of lessons a "Course". Even lesson pages should be broken down into the title page (or first page) of the lesson which should be called "Lesson" and any additional pages for a lesson to be called "Lesson_Pages" or "Pages". At Wikiversity, the view is that no such thing as "the only way" exists. Different approaches of learning exist and Wikiversity should be able to support most of them. So, if you want to arrange your content along "Lessons" and "Courses", feel free but realize that "Lesson:" and "Course:" are technically not namespaces. That has other technical implications such as the naming of talk pages, category sort order and various page list. However, if you do believe that we should have Lesson: and Course: as proper namespaces, I would recommend you bring it up at the Wikiversity:Colloquium for discussion as rarely anyone reads my talk page. sebmol ^? 18:52, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

A disoriented contributor seems to have left an ad on the bottom of the Help:Talk page requesting assistance from contributors for an outside wiki based portal. Hi Sebmol, you've been moving pages about and there's no notes in discussion on why that may be. Specifically, the Game Design pages and "policy by other means." These were projects in the Project: namespace that you moved to main namespace. I moved those pages because the prefix Project: refers to the Wikiversity: namespace which is intended to pages internal to Wikiversity. I understand what you mean now. I had read the following in a way other than the way it was intended:

All pages in the Wikiversity "project namespace" start with the prefix Wikiversity:. The Wikiversity "project namespace" is also called the Wikiversity namespace because our project is called "Wikiversity". The Wikiversity namespace is a namespace containing pages that provide information about Wikiversity. The page you are now reading is located in the Wikiversity project namespace. An example of another page in the wikiversity namespace is Wikiversity:Main Page. Other important pages in the project namespace are the policy pages.

This should probably read "Wikiversity Project" namespace, which means it belongs specifically to the Wikiversity project, not "project namespace" as that said to me that this namespace was for projects. Clear semantic ambiguity (which is unfortunately quite at home in the English language). Where should Projects be put then, just in the main namespace as you have done? I blocked User:Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, because it was an excessively long username, and it's hard to reference a name like that. I'm not certain that the second block was justified, so I've unblocked. Block the first user name, I can completely understand. The second one seemed to make constructive edits and, besides being a bit log, wasn't really offensive or attacking, at least IMO. If you think the user name is inappropriate, maybe you can contact him and suggest a name change. A question. I have updated all the links from the redirect Modeling and Animation Clips using Art of Illusion to where I moved the overview page A Hands-On Introduction to Game Design and Production Processes. Can we now delete the redirect so I can recycle the cycle as a subtopic or is this redirect now part of the database forever? Thanks for any assistance you can provide! I was thinking about running for custodianship, but I noticed that a vote is not involved within the process. Rather, it seems as if a mentor must select you. It lists you as a mentor, and I was wondering what your personal "requirements" are for mentoring a candidate for custodianship? -- J.Steinbock 18:44, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The process is described at Wikiversity:Custodianship. Basically, the first steps are as follows:

1. Self-nomination describing who you are, what your contributions to Wikiversity have been and why you are interested in the job.
2. Contact an experienced custodian to be your mentor. It has to be a deal both you and the mentor agree to.

In general, I prefer mentoring candidates who have shown that they can contribute to Wikiversity effectively and persistently. That coupled with the right understanding of the job and there should be no problems. sebmol ^? 19:02, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would say let's focus on what has to be done at the moment and once more users join we can consider these programs. It is much too early to try and begin programs that we will have trouble finding contributors and gaining popularity.
