Thanks for mending the double launch on James Suckling. I appreciate it! Jay-Sebastos (talk) 17:55, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No need to mention. We're a team :) MURGH talk 18:18, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We are indeed! I have made a few minor edits and additions after having read Jancis Robinson's article on the subject. Check it out. Jay-Sebastos (talk) 13:40, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. I must assume you're a fortunate JR-subscriber to be privy to that source. MURGH talk 14:12, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am indeed. A quick search for Suckling in google led me to a stack of articles on Suckling's daughter Isobel who seems to be having a lot of press coverage at the moment. See the classic fm homepage [1] at the moment just for the significance of the deal. We need to make an article about her obviously. Not sure if the way I inserted the information into James Suckling's article is the best way or whether it should be included in another section? See what you think. Jay-Sebastos (talk) 14:18, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree the amount of sudden RS on her merits an own article that I see you've already enhanced. I like the tight insert in JS the way it is. MURGH talk 15:13, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Title of Robert Parker article

[edit]

I'm not sure if this has already been raised at DYK in the past few days as I haven't visited it but I've put on a query on the article's talk page. Nice article, btw. Ericoides (talk) 19:42, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll voice in. de MURGH talk 20:35, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed it now to Robert Parker: Les Sept Pêchés capiteux so it corresponds completely with the book's cover. (It always seems to me that French use of upper-case in titles is rather haphazard, but the cover should always be followed ...) Ericoides (talk) 06:45, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I hear you but don't see it. de MURGH talk 07:39, 20 October 2010 (UTC) [reply]
Unless I'm misunderstanding you, have a look at the title as presented on the book's cover. Two fonts (hence, partly, colon). Then, in that extravagant script (the subtitle (hence again, partly, colon)), upper-case L, S and P and lower-case c (i.e. Les Sept Pêchés capiteux). That, aside from the imprint page, is the best authority we have for the correct spelling of the title. Ericoides (talk) 15:30, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No I'm fine with it, I considered it, but on my own hunch it would be OR. As far as the part cap title, the French have funky rules, usually lowercase when one would think not, and then a word like Seven Sins in caps. I don't get them that well. de MURGH talk 16:52, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wine Bio articles

[edit]
The Content Creativity Barnstar
I know you create articles on all kind of topics but you do exceptionally well in creating wine bio articles, especially for BLPs. AgneCheese/Wine 10:26, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was doing a canvass of unsourced BLP articles under the Wine Project banner and was pleasantly surprised at the relatively low numbers we have among wine articles. Nearly all our wine BLPs are fully sourced and well written, even the stubs, and you are a HUGE reason why that is so. Great work! You are such a wonderful asset to the wine project and I enjoy working with you. AgneCheese/Wine 10:26, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey what a nice message to be welcomed by, words like a christmas gift :) Thanks a lot. May your holidays be pleasant. de MURGH talk 22:30, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Picture for James Suckling

[edit]

Glad to finally find a picture for the article! Copyright is all ok I would think? Is there a fair use for size of image? Jay-Sebastos (talk) 18:27, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's nice with imagery, but pics that fall under WP:FAIRUSE are always tricky with people that are still alive. A motivated editor with anti-fairuse agenda can at any time point to the fact that it isn't unreasonable to have it replaced with a completely free image, and that "consmetic reasons" are insufficient grounds/unacceptable for the use of a copyrighted pic (under the "critical commentary and discussion of the film and its contents"-clause), that a better reason is needed to justify its inclusion. I dread to enter that kind of discussion, so a free image is always the best solution, so we better keep looking for something to pop up on Flickr or have the camera handy if we run into him. Sizewise I'm not sure about the rules of "web resolution" but think it generally runs around a 200-300 pixel width. de MURGH talk 19:53, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes we must keep on looking for a free image. That being said, we can probably keep the current one for the time being can't we? Jay-Sebastos (talk) 08:08, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. It shouldn't be an issue for the short term. de MURGH talk 09:43, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I found one on Flickr by a kind author that was willing to share and promptly relax the licensing. I think it's a happy picture :) de MURGH talk 23:03, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah good find! Nice way to include the film still too. Good work! Jay-Sebastos (talk) 23:30, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My apologizes Murgh. I left a similar message for Tomas about my dealings with these articles. I was going on another stub-killing spree when I came across Lanson International and the related stubs. Seeing three potential stub kills, I went ahead and WP:BOLDly merged them. It wasn't until after I did every that I saw the comments from you and Tomas opposing a merger idea. I explain my reasoning on the page but, again, if either your or Tomas feel that strongly that they should stay separate stubs then I have no objections to be reverted. My main contention is that the reader is benefited more by articles with fuller context then with isolated stubs and I really didn't see much hope for expansion. AgneCheese/Wine 02:02, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh well. No strong feelings here, but I'd opt for the simpler naming scheme. deMURGH talk 08:01, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Heitz hook

[edit]

We do have a Vineyard designated wine article that can be linked in your hook but I would probably include your info and ref in that article since my sources were giving Ch. St Jean's Robert Young Vineyard the credit. :P AgneCheese/Wine 01:07, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey thanks. Yes we do! Hm. 1975 seems mighty late with refs not so helpful. I think I'll insert this 66. deMURGH talk 08:06, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Workbench French wine articles

[edit]

Hey Murgh! I was browsing your work bench and you have quite an impressive collection of start up articles that you've been working on over the years. While I know you have high standards and though they may not be 100% ready, several of them are certainly in good enough shape to be featured in main space. To go with the WP:WID2011 theme, I was wondering if you would be willing to move some of the "closer to ready" articles to main space. While I've been twiddling around with obscure French grape stubs, I would certainly be willing to help out with polishing them up further and getting some DYKs. A few of the articles, in particular, I had in mind was User:Murgh/Domaine Leroy, User:Murgh/Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe and User:Murgh/Margaux AOC. AgneCheese/Wine 04:33, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Standards do vary with busy/leisurely periods, and while I do have some time today, I'll be not so WP active for another two weeks or so as I go on a little vacation (going through Swartland-Paarl-Franschhoek-Stellenbosch :) so I can chip a little away at Leroy and maybe Vieux Télégraphe for now, but won't have time for all that much, so feel totally free to build on Margaux AOC. deMURGH talk 11:33, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well I don't feel as comfortable editing in another editor's userpage which is one of the reasons why I suggested maybe moving them over to mainspace. But if your not keen on that idea, no worries. :) Best wishes on your trip, sounds very exciting. Also good opportunity for some wine pictures. Though harvest is likely over by now, maybe you can snatch a pic of the elusive Pinotage. ;) AgneCheese/Wine 02:31, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Murgh, I've posted an RfC at Talk:Roger Scruton—see here—to ask whether the neutrality tag should remain on the article. There are a number of issues in dispute; if you could comment even on just one of them, or your overall impression of the article's balance, that would be very helpful. I'm leaving this note because you've edited the article or talk page, but if you have no interest in commenting, please feel free to ignore the request. Aldo Conterno

[edit]

Hi Murgh, with news that Aldo passed away yesterday, I was thinking it would be a good time to introduce an article on the producer. I noticed you have a good draft in your user space, would you mind if I add some information, clean it up a bit and introduce it to mainspace please? If you wanted to help that would be great as well! Camw (talk) 11:51, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Camw. I hadn't noticed yet, thanks for the nod. Of course you may use as much of that draft as you like to work with, though I see I only got as far as gathering my references and not much writing got started before I suddenly became a bad wikipedian. By all means help yourself, and I'll be glad to offer eventual suggestions afterwards underways and perhaps qualify as a joint DYK effort? Unfortunately I am away from home for another week and the first five reference books are unavailable to me ATM. Cheers, deMURGH talk 13:30, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! My own reference books on Italy are minimal but I'll see what I can find in my general books and online this weekend. A dual DYK is a good idea, although the last time I looked over there after creating an article I got scared off by their new processes! Camw (talk) 16:25, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guys, sorry to snope in. But I agree it would be a great time to get an article going for this truly notable producer. I have a few Italian wine refs and may be tempted to open up a bottle of Aldo Conterno this weekend at a tasting I'm attending so I can snap a pic. As for DYK, if we work on the article in userspace and one person moves it over by creating an entirely new page (instead of a page move) than another person can nominate it for DYK without having to go through some of the hoops. AgneCheese/Wine 17:23, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem Agne, the article Murgh has drafted is at User:Murgh/Aldo Conterno. I'm trying to add some additional information (but as mentioned, without having many specific Italian references available) and any assistance (especially a photo, as I've already looked and can't find anything decent with an appropriate license) would be great! Camw (talk) 18:05, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know about any new DYK rules, but if I understand you correctly Agne, the smart thing is to copy/paste the text into Aldo Conterno instead of the move like one used to do. I'll have to peek at these hoops. Good luck and steady hands catching the shot ;) deMURGH talk 18:52, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My search on Flickr actually ended on one pic that was permissible per WP:FLICKR but the blurriness really not to live with. Not a sober photo[2]. I've sent a few mails to the other rights owners of nicer pics about changing the license, so maybe one will respond. It has happened. deMURGH talk 21:12, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Murgh, do you think we can move this article into mainspace? I know it isn't perfect, but I think it is good enough. Camw (talk) 00:38, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. Do you want me to copy/paste it then rather than the simple moves that we used to do? I never grasped the reasoning behind the new way of doing things or how it changes anything for DYKnomination.. deMURGH talk 07:45, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was always under the impression that a normal move was best as it preserves the history and contributions, I might leave a note with Agne and see if they can explain. Camw (talk) 10:15, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So I think I finally caught on to the DYK issue and went ahead with the move and also put it up on T:TDYK. Feel free to suggest other hook ideas, I may have rushed it a bit this morning opting for the curious factoid. deMURGH talk 21:22, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, looks good to me! Camw (talk) 09:30, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello you old Bordeaux nose! :-) Since it seems that the 2012 version of the classification is now finalised (see Decanter) - barring any new legal turns of course - are you interested in updating Classification of Saint-Émilion wine? If not, then perhaps I will do so when I have the time. Regards, Tomas e (talk) 09:36, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ornellaia update

[edit]

Hi Murgh, some time ago I updated the Ornellaia page addiong some sections about all the Ornellaia wines and the climate in the area. I wee that everything was removed, could you just let me know why all the updates have been removed? I would just need to better understand criteria in order to provide more useful information. Thank you so much,

SimonettaSimonettar (talk) 14:48, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Simonetta. It was necessary to remove this edit on sight because there were entire phrases that were copied exactly from the Ornellaia website, and as per WP:COPYVIO we cannot use such text on wikipedia. It needs to be rephrased, in a neutral language, and have a source from a reliable source, described in WP:RS. Hope that helps. deMURGH talk 16:47, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Murgh, I found your Case Basse page and tried to fill some gaps by using a recent source. I am sorry if I used the wrong procedure (I am rather new) and feel free to undo my additions if you don't like them. In any case I think you did an excellent job and it is ready to be published. WG Wine (talk) 13:25, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello WG wine. Thanks for your additions. Except maybe for a sentence I would try to phrase a little more "encyclopaedic", I like what you did. and it does look close to ready move into outside wikispace. I'm on holiday ATM but once home in a few weeks I can put a few touches to it and publish. Cheers, deMURGH talk 08:56, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Trinchero Family Estates

[edit]

Hi Murgh, I hope you're doing well. Let me start by saying I'm not an expert on editing articles. Hopefully you can help me. I saw that you reinstated the redirect I removed from Trinchero Family Estates (to Sutter Home Winery). May we discuss that? Trinchero Family Estates should have its own Wikipedia page. I'm happy to help build out the page with your direction. Please let me know the next steps. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucy456 (talkcontribs) 19:12, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lucy456. I looked up the action you are referring to. I wasn't the one that reverted the edit you made, I only made the original redirect page some 12 (!) years ago, while you can see the editor who recently took issue[3] with your edit was Onel5969 (talk).
I see there was no explanation but I would guess that even as a wikipedia article stub it fell a bit short on MOS criteria and source attribution. You might want to work out those issues in your own sandboxspace before posting a new edit. I'm sure if you gather a nice set of reliable sources you can build a valid article but at first glance it should offer more than a PR brief on behalf of the article subject. Good luck. deMURGH talk 19:52, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oolite

[edit]

Greetings & Salutations! I sincerely hope that you are indeed the Mighty & Magnificent Murgh who wrote all the oxp's for Oolite back from 2004-7.

If you are, is there any chance of getting a blanket license from you so that we can work on updating some of them? Whilst your old oxp's do indeed work with the newest versions of Oolite, the addition of better graphics has sadly made them look decidedly clunky. which is a great shame, as some of them are indeed brilliant.

Please let us know...
