When the Earth Trembled

[edit]

13:48, July 22, 2024‎ When the Earth Trembled

You recently deleted an 1913 image from the cast table stating "move ad out of cast table per MOS:NO-TABLES."

If you could help built my understanding of why this correction was made–I couldn't find within your quoted justification an exact reason for removing the image from the cast table. Thus, could you please explain in the MOS where it specifies that you are prohibited from including an image in the table? In your opinion, would locating the image outside the table be, OK?

Thanks

Michael Jannetta (talk) 00:18, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's still there, just moved, not deleted. The part I was referring to is the "Page layout" section, which says, "Page layouts…should be done via CSS, not tables, whenever possible. Images and other embedded media should be positioned using standard image syntax." The image is currently in the Production section since it seemed like a better fit, but yeah, fine with it being in the Cast section, as long as it uses the standard image formatting instead of table formatting. hinnk (talk) 01:16, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Twice a Man (film)

[edit]

On 25 July 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Twice a Man (film), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Olympia Dukakis's first screen role was in the avant-garde film Twice a Man? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Twice a Man (film). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Twice a Man (film)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Thank you about RS

[edit]

Thank you for reviewing and giving feedback on Joever despite rivalry in the AfD with a foregone conclusion. You improved my understanding of WP:RS and made me learn about how to search WP:RSN. This taught me how to increase the rigor of my sourcing, which I would like to thank you for! 142.113.140.146 (talk) 16:28, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing, thanks for your efforts to improve the article. hinnk (talk) 19:13, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Phantom (1922)

[edit]

Hi, Why can't this film be uploaded to Commons? File:Phantom (1922).webm Thanks, Yann (talk) 09:34, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thea von Harbou (1888–1954) was the writer on it. German copyright expires 70 years after the January 1 after the year of death, so it'll be public domain at the beginning of 2025. hinnk (talk) 09:46, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring old revision of PD-files

[edit]

While the former can be exported into Commons, the latter cannot due to being a foreign work whose French copyright still applies. --Mayimbú (talk) 19:34, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I feel like I'm missing some context, I haven't touched either of those. Did you want me to start a request at WP:RFU so we can get the previous revisions undeleted? hinnk (talk) 21:40, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you can, i thank you in advance. --Mayimbú (talk) 06:35, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A last minute addition is this photo montage from Die Nibelungen, which can be remade with HQ screencaps from the film (scene at 2h 14m).--Mayimbú (talk) 06:48, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
File:The Graduate Charles Webb.jpg has been transferred to Commons now, although the original version turned out to be a photo of the book instead of the 2D cover, so that probably can't stay. The higher-resolution version of File:PassionofJoanofArc.jpg has been undeleted, and I've asked for the original version of File:Nibelungen film2.jpg to be undeleted too. If you run into more of these, you can just add a request to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion and indicate that the work is in the public domain (or I'm happy to help with that, of course). hinnk (talk) 22:42, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
