Unit History
[edit]3/6RNZIR was created from the amalgamation of the Territorial Army Unit on the 7th of December 2012 forming the 3rd Auckland Regiment (Count of Ranfurly's Own) and Northland Battalion Group and the 6th Hauraki Regiment. The names of these units are retained in the sub-units that comprise the battalion and they trace their lineage back to militia units formed in the mid-19th Century. The battalion has a rich history of service and contribution in every major theatre of conflict since the Second Beor War, particularly in the World Wars of the 20th Century, and more recently support of New Zealand's Peacekeeping efforts aboard with our international partners
