Humans?

Are Redguards really humans? I mean, from what I read, only Nords, Cyrodiil and Bretons originally come from Atmora and are hence considered humans. Redguards originiating from Yokuda are a completely different type, different from both Mer and humans. --Koveras 15:12, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Redguards are men same as the Nords and Cyrodiils, there are references to 'men' in Akavir who are now extinct at the hands of the Tsaesci. So it's a safe bet that the Ra Gada are just as human as the Nedics. They are certainly far more human than the Bretons who are of mixed Nedic and Aldmeri ancestry. Only 2 groups are recognised as being descended from the 'Ehlnofey' race, the modern meri races and the modern mannish races, the reference to the crowns not being human is probably meant to mean they have no Nedic blood in them. Many times in the games and lore Redguards are called men, never elf or mer. The category should really be changed. Redguards are men, and Khajiit are mer, or of meri descent, just as much as the Orcs. Seek100 23:57, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, technically none of the races are humans, they're Cyro-Nordic. Still, Redguards are considered one of the mannish races despite not being descended from the Nedics as the others are. RebornSentinal 21:07, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it's safe to assume the Redguard are human on the basis of several facts. The human races seem to be based off real life cultures. The Imperials display a Roman themed culture and names. The Nords seem... well, Norse. The Redgaurd appear African (African American because of the American voice accent?) but display Japanese architecture and names. If they weren't human, they'd be strange, like swamp lizards, cats trying to turn into dragons, or have skin that oddly glows a golden hue. If you have any doubt, check the ears. They're not pointy. I'm moving them back to humans. Even if the facts are 50/50, the majority assumes they're human. If you want to get technical, write an e-mail to Bethesda and ask. I haven't played the game yet, but the Redguards seem to resemble the Arabs more than zulus. Arabs being known for their bravery in battle, their knowledge in battle, and their many advanced technologies. The name "redguards" also reminds me of the Turks. I believe their a mix of the Japanese and Arabic cultures (more of Arabic influence, though). Yet because of their dark skin, and some familiar African names, the Redguards lead me to believe their based on the Islamic Mali empire, under Mansa Musa.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.168.119.14 (talk • contribs)

Actually mistaking African words for Japanese is a common mistake. Some African languages, such as Lingala, have words that are mistaken as Japanese. Yamakasi is a famous example. Their names are not Japanese, but African.
