English: Pierre Jacques Smit (1863-1960), sometimes called Peter, was a zoological illustrator. He worked with among others the Mintern Press, illustrating books on bird and animals including Frank Evers Beddard's Animal Coloration (1892) for which he prepared the chromolithographs (coloured engravings).
