Kristin MacCuish

[edit]

Move page to Kristin Gordon? She's registered for PointsBet on Curl Canada as Gordon and her jersey also says Gordon. TracyFleuryFan (talk) 17:39, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well, they'll be calling her Kristin Gordon at the PointsBet event, so I won't oppose a move.-- Earl Andrew - talk 20:37, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Open Slam

[edit]

With the Canadian Open moving to November this year all of the links to 2024 Canadian Open (curling) unfortunately have to be changed. I'm assuming a sufficient name would be 2024 Canadian Open (January) and 2024 Canadian Open (November) as that's consistent with what has been done in the past. Wondering if there is a quick way to have all the links changed or if it has to be done manually. TracyFleuryFan (talk) 04:10, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There may be a bot that can do it for you. You can go here to request one: Wikipedia:Bot requests -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:24, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
WP:AWBREQ may be a more appropriate place ot make the request. meamemg (talk) 14:08, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the guidance on where to go, I really didn't want to have to do that manually.
In looking at the page for the Canadian Open, I see Rachelle Brown listed as winning the slam with Homan but on her page it isn't counted in her Grand Slam wins. Do we have a policy on when alternates are included in the win / when they are not? Just wondering since some teams compete a front-end rotation with the alternate (ex: Seol Ye-ji on Gim) and others don't. TracyFleuryFan (talk) 17:02, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Traveltheglobe listed her for some reason, but I don't think she played in any games, so she shouldn't be there. I've gone ahead and removed her. -- Earl Andrew - talk 20:26, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Team Homan posted on January 11 that Rachelle would be their alternate for Canadian Open and she was on the bench during the event. Since she didn't play any games does that mean it doesn't count as a slam win for her? If she had played an end or two in round robin, would it count? Just trying to establish a rule around it for the future since it's such a grey area. TracyFleuryFan (talk) 22:33, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we have to be careful to avoid original research in determining who we should be listing. When in doubt, we should just go by whatever they list on the website (which doesn't include Brown, nor is she in the picture of the team). If we think there are other people who deserve mentioning, we need to find secondary sources to back up the assertion.-- Earl Andrew - talk 13:41, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
