Thanks for uploading Image:Millane.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you. -- Carnildo 06:31, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi mate, was wondering if you would consider adding your opinions to WikiProject AFL. Air any views you have on the discussion page, or simply drop myself a line on my talk page. Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 10:42, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No worries mate, good to have you on board. I suggest you take a look at how some of the other AFL player profiles are formatted if you want any ideas. One thing is that many articles don't have much info on the player's career, we need more people here expanding it, and without a lot of people it'll be a big effort. So if you could tell some of your mates to help out that'd be great. Anyway if you have any questions, just drop me a line on my talk page. Cheers mate, Rogerthat Talk 08:21, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great Work on North Dandenong and Darren Millane

[edit]

Thank you for your good work on North Dandenong. We need all the suburb articles improved.

Are the Police Paddocks in that part of the world, by any chance?

Good work on Darren Millane. He was an important footballer of his time.

You have scanned that image from a book if i am right. Most books do have a copyright and unless an express permission is sought from the author or publisher it would violate the copyrights. You are the best judge in this because I cant verify your source. Thanks!! --Nivus(talk) 12:45, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AFL season article naming convention

[edit]

As a participant of WikiProject AFL I thought you might be interested in this. I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming convention for AFL season articles. You can participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject AFL#AFL season article naming convention. Cheers. Remy B 13:23, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shields Articles

[edit]

Dan,

What a surprise to hear from you! One day several weeks ago I clicked the random article link and got the "Nox Bailey Shield" article. It was such an unusual name that I dug into it deeper. A guy named Adam Power at the ASF (adampower@softball.org.au) responded to my inquiry and sent me a photo of the shield. (We do not have many shield-shaped trophies in the U.S., and we would never refer to them as "shields.") One thing led to another, and I learned about the other shields. Also I polished some of the articles a bit. Adam later sent me photos of most of the shields, and I posted 'em. I'd be happy to help you polish the articles, but of course I don't have any of the information. If you can send it to me, I'll turn it into Wikipedia stuff. Microsoft Word format would probably be best, if you want to do it.

rail articles

[edit]

I suggest that next time you create user subpages if you will not have time to finish the articles. I deleted them because they were empty. You can't have an article with just a template in it. I've moved the information to subpages:

Australian Baseball

[edit]

Good to see another Australian Baseball supporter, I just finished agreeing with you on Casper Claiborne's talk page. Wait a little longer and we'll see a new type of Australian Baseball League in Australia. --JRA WestyQld2 14:58, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My dad actually played a couple of games for the Brisbane Bandits and he might have a uniform hanging around somewhere. I may even try and put in a couple of local baseball clubs from my region (Brisbane North), try and input as much data as I can and when I do I'll try and remember to tell you! --JRA WestyQld2 05:25, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:South Gippsland Railway.JPG)

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:South Gippsland Railway.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 17:50, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are blocked.

[edit]

For intentional, willful disruption of wikipedia [1] in full knowledge of our fair use policies, I have blocked you for 24 hours. You are welcome to return after the block and contribute constructively, rather than in opposition to our policies. If you instead decide to continue acting in the manner demonstrated above, the next block will be longer. --Durin 22:59, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i wasnt willfully disrupting wikipedia, i was willfully disrupting you. If you had of just answered my question here [2] with a "no you can not use the image in a template" we would of avoided this whole situation, i still dont see the sense in not being able to use them in a template which can not be used outside that templates topic. Also could u delete that template, its no longer needed --Dan027 08:21, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Your action created a situation that violated Wikipedia policies. You knew what the policies were. You took the action anyways. This is a willfull disruption of Wikipedia and you were properly blocked. Please do not repeat such actions again, whether you think it is against Wikipedia or against a single user.
Templates can and are frequently used outside of the main article namespace. In fact, this is specifically why the use of fair use images is not permitted on templates as such use can easily violate copyright law. Even if you think your particular template is commpletely unusable outside of main article namespace, and even if you are right, we can not allow exceptions on a case by case basis except in extreme cases decided by a very broad consensus. This is because to allow such case by case exceptions creates a wholly unmanageable situation with respect to copyright management.
I'll delete the template once your block has expired. --Durin 12:51, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
if so many templates are being used outside the articles namespace how come ive never come across a page about a commodore with a template from a falcon? --Dan027 12:59, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it is necessary for me to cite multiple examples in order to prove the point. The fact is, templates intended for main article namespace are frequently used outside of the main article namespace. This is why the policy is written the way it was written. --Durin 13:19, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didnt ask for multiple examples to prove your point, i didnt relli ask for any examples, but hey when in rome an example would be great thanks mate, hey based on my previous activities around you this could be counted as intentional, willful disruption of wikipedia couldnt it? --Dan027 13:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
no i was saying im disrupting wikipedia by continually making u message back. c'mon mate, get a sense of humor, lifes short enough as it is, you know i wasnt disrupting wikipedia in general, just stirring you up, obviously you cant not take somthing seriously.--Dan027 14:02, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New baseball article improvement drive

[edit]
Baseball Greetings fellow WikiProject Baseball member! Just a quick note: there is now an article improvement drive just for baseball-related articles at WP:BBAID. Please take a look and vote on an article or add one of your own. Once an article has been agreed upon, feel free to stop by and lend a hand in getting it to featured article status. Hope you can participate! —Wknight94 (talk) 01:48, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Victorian Rail Stubs

[edit]

All of the articles I have changed into stubs are articles that were not listed as stubs when they were created. I welcome you changing them into a more specific category, but as far as I am aware I have not done anything wrong. -- Casmith 789 15:31, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mernda/Meranda

[edit]

According to the VR 1927 Grades book, Andrew Waugh's maps of the VR, and current usage of the name of the location, the station past South Morang was Mernda, as the Epping line article had. What makes you think that it was Meranda?
Philip J. Rayment 14:44, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Message received, thanks. I am quite familiar with VicSig actually, but didn't think of it in this case. Philip J. Rayment

Your note

[edit]

Hi Dan, you were actually commenting on something Phillip did on another page. I think that you should take this issue up on that page. Re-title the section if you wish, but please leave a division there, or else the section will be too hard to navigate later. And yes I'm aware of the 3rr rule, and that you would start throwing threats like that around about something like this, well anyway.... cheers --Michael Johnson 12:23, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coloured fonts in Melbourne railway articles

[edit]

My mistake. I just ran across a station article with yellow, and maybe it's just my monitor, but it was hard to read. When I looked at the history, it looked like someone had just taken it upon themselves to add the color when they added the zone info, and the updates seemed pretty spread out chronologically (about one month), so I didn't think it was an assessed decision. Then I just started going down the line "fixing". I do think it's confusing with red & blue links, as well, but if the issue's been tackled already, I defer. Grands Prix

[edit]

Your revised version of Australian Grand Prix reads perfectly OK - but just for info 'Grands Prix' as the plural of Grand Prix is acceptable in English and is used by several major print publications. The logic is that the phrase is French in origin, so the plural may also be derived from the French spelling, I believe. Cheers. --4u1e 11:56, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seemed clumsy to me - that's why I reverted it. "Grands Prix" (cf "Grandes Épreuves") is used throughout Wikipedia, so I don't see what's wrong with it, but I'd sooner "Grand Prix events" if there had to be an alternative. "Grand Prixes", by the way, is NOT a word. -- Ian Dalziel 18:02, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
has there been a consensus on using Grands Prix? i agree that Grand Prix events does sound better. also Grand Prixes is an accepted plural of the word Grand Prix[3]. cheers --Dan027 08:27, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not accepted by me, I'm afraid. Dictionary.com is just plain wrong on that - it happens!. Try a Google on "Grands Prix" as opposed to "Grand Prixes" and count the hits. "Grands Prix" is the plural used on Forix, grandprix.com and formula1.com, as well as being the correct French plural for a French phrase used in English. -- Ian Dalziel 20:34, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedying misspellings

[edit]

I've noticed you are marking some articles with misspelled names as fit for speedy deletion. I think the correct action in this case is to replace the article with a redirect to the correct article using this wiki markup:

Baseball team infobox

[edit]

I stumbled across the Australian baseball articles last night and wanted to let you know about {{Infobox baseball team}}... It's being used in articles about teams from Cuba, Mexico the Netherlands, Japan and Taiwan. And your "Gotcha" thing had me clicking all over the place, wondering what the hell was happening. Rolando (talk) 16:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers mate, i was editing some of the articles recently i was thinking about a template for the infoboxes. i see you also have created the template for uniforms aswell, that will make it ALOT easier to get the uniforms done on the pages aswell.
aslong as you got a laugh out of the gotcha, some people are too serious on here. --Dan027 07:55, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Having a closer look at the template i think i will use it, but it needs to be modified to fit into Aussie articles, as most the teams are defunct and its possible a number of them will be re-formed in the next 6months. --Dan027 10:02, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I enjoy a little confusion! I found the problem at your test page, looked like a simple missing "]". Cheers to yourself--if you think there is stuff we can use on the standard template let it drop on the talk page. Rolando (talk) 12:29, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
