Is that your drone...

[edit]

In the main picture, Ceoil? Very high tech! If you haven’t got Keohane’s Cork Pevsner yet, I can mail over what it says on the chapel. I’ll take a look first, but I suspect it might be quite lengthy. Hope you and Liz are keeping well in these strange times. KJP1 (talk) 18:02, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dont me started; there was a wedding on that day, and a middle aged man playing with the drone. We waited and waited for him to move on, soon as he was out of shot I clicked, but obv the drone was still hovering above.
Amazon are telling me that the Keohane book will be arriving between 22-24th April, but notice they usually overestimate by about a week. Really looking forward and thanks for kind offer. Ceoil (talk) 20:44, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ceoil – the drone. I have a version which I DL'd in which I have photoshopped the drone out. If you would prefer that, I can upload it. Please advise. Thanks DBaK (talk) 20:43, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That would be great DBaK, sound. Ceoil (talk) 20:45, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have now treated it with the patent formulation Drone-Be-Gone™ and hope you like the result. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 20:54, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Clap/clap. Ceoil (talk) 21:06, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
V v welcome. DBaK (talk) 22:16, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Malloy

[edit]

Hi! Can you please confirm that dad's friend really is Augtin Malloy not Austin or any other spelling? I seem to have more luck googling the latter than the former but hey, I am a rubbish researcher so ... meh. And if Augtin is correct, would you please consider giving it a nifty "not an error" tag or even just an HTML comment or something. This would stop idiots like me blundering by and wanting to change it. Indeed, it might stop me myself (and I) in a couple of weeks when I have forgotten this conversation ... <sigh>. Cheers DBaK (talk) 14:28, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DBaK. Austin. Thanks for the diligence. And copy edits. Ceoil (talk) 01:07, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ceoil. You are most welcome. It's a pleasure to help even in this extremely minor way. And I'm relieved that it turns out to be Austin – I was perhaps being overcautious because I thought I would look such a complete gonk if he really was Augtin and I was like the only kid in the whole room who didn't know that that was a real name ... cheers DBaK (talk) 10:05, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Founding charter of "Queen's Colleges"

[edit]

I was surprised to see here the assertion that the founding charter of the Queen's Colleges excluded Roman Catholics. The section dealing with foundation of the Queen's Colleges in Queen's University of Ireland explicitly states that they were founded in order to provide university education for Roman Catholics. The section then goes on to suggest that it was the Roman Catholic hierarchy who discouraged or even forbade Catholics from attending the Colleges, because they were not permitted to offer instruction in theology ("godless colleges"). The source cited in support of the assertion (The Irish Naturalists' Journal) would seem somewhat peripheral to the point at issue to be authoritative here. The account given in Queen's University of Ireland appears to me to be the more accurate, but I open it for discussion, with a view to correcting this article.Ntmr (talk) 14:00, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As no one has disagreed with the view that I have taken above, I have now corrected the Article. If you disagree with the change, please engage in this conversation, rather than merely reversing my edit.Ntmr (talk) 15:29, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The changes look fine to me Ntmr, but User:Guliolopez would have more knowledge on this aspect. Ceoil (talk) 20:17, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
