A Sequel That Misses the Mark
chiragrathod199 August 2024
Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba is a sequel that struggles to replicate the intrigue and complexity of its predecessor. While the film attempts to delve deeper into the twisted world of its characters, it ultimately falls short in delivering a satisfying narrative.

The sequel picks up where the first film left off, with Rani (Taapsee Pannu) and Rishu (Vikrant Massey) entangled in a web of deceit and manipulation. However, the novelty of the first film's plot twists is replaced by a sense of déjà vu. The constant back-and-forth between reality and illusion becomes tiresome, and the audience is left questioning the purpose of revisiting this convoluted story.

While Taapsee Pannu maintains her magnetic screen presence, the characters of Rani and Rishu feel underdeveloped. Their motivations remain unclear, and their actions often defy logic. The supporting cast, including Sunny Kaushal, fails to leave a lasting impression, further weakening the overall impact of the film.

The film's plot is convoluted and often defies credibility. The constant twists and turns become more of a gimmick than a suspenseful element. The screenplay struggles to balance the complex narrative with character development, resulting in a disjointed viewing experience.

Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba had the potential to explore the psychological depths of its characters and offer a fresh perspective on the themes of love, obsession, and betrayal. Unfortunately, the film opts for shock value and convoluted plot twists over substance. While it may entertain some viewers with its over-the-top drama, it ultimately fails to deliver a satisfying cinematic experience.

Despite A Promising Premise, This Romatic Crime Thriller Fails to Impress !!!
cs_rahul_prasad11 August 2024
Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba relocates from the sleepy town of Jwalapur to the city of Agra while attempting to recapture its predecessor's dark, edgy charm. Written by Kanika Dhillon and directed by Jayprad Desai, the movie has all the ingredients to be a thrilling ride, and with the addition of a formidable new adversary and obsessed lovers, the stakes are significantly raised. A dogged cop, Montu (Jimmy Shergill) is hot on Rani and Rishu's heels, spelling doom for the duo because he is the slain ex-lover Neel's chacha, making the case personal for him.

Despite the initial promise, the execution is lacking, and the script tries to pack too much, resulting in illogical decisions and unconvincing outcomes. The film's focus shifts from the intriguing mystery of the first instalment to a more straightforward chase, diluting the suspenseful elements that made the original compelling. The cat-and-mouse game between Rani, Rishu, and the police becomes predictable, lacking the edge-of-the-seat tension that Vinil Mathew's outing delivered.

While there are moments of intrigue, the narrative often meanders, bogged down by unnecessary subplots (including murders) and convoluted twists. The screenplay's attempts at clever dialogue and literary allusions (the pulpy crime novel background, a highlight of the first film) often feel over the top this time around, detracting from the overall impact. At 132 minutes, the film moves at a decent pace, but the plot points leave many questions unanswered.

Vikrant Massey shines as Rishu, with a commendable character arc from the first film. Taapsee Pannu brings a captivating energy to her role, although her performance in the first instalment was more subtly nuanced. Sunny Kaushal is decent as the meek but intense Abhimanyu. The two actors' on-screen dynamic is compelling. Aditya Srivastav and Jimmy Shergill are underutilized, despite Shergill's impactful scenes. The cinematography is a redeeming factor, capturing the essence of Agra.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is engaging, if not awe-inspiring, and has some entertaining moments. While it maintains a stylish aesthetic and a talented cast, the film ultimately lacks the originality and suspense required to truly captivate audiences. With some tighter writing and more focused storytelling, this could have been a memorable sequel.

An Underwhelming Follow-Up: 'Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba' Falls Short
chunkies-443129 August 2024
I was thrilled to dive into "Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba", the sequel to the captivating suspense thriller "Haseen Dilruba". Initially, the film's realistic portrayal of life after the traumatic events of the first installment had me hooked. However, as the story unfolded, the narrative took a jarring turn. Rani's decision to marry Abhimanyu felt like a contrived attempt to sidestep the investigation, and from there, the plot spiralled into a convoluted mess.

The filmmakers' attempts to inject twists upon twists came across as forced and unrealistic, culminating in a climax that left me incredulous. It felt like the writers were mocking the audience's intelligence. Overall, the movie was a middling experience, failing to live up to the standards set by its predecessor.

That's One Time Watch for Sure ; But leave your Logics in your Pocket !
nitishkumarmohanta20 August 2024
At first let me clear, this is not that much impactful sequel as compared to it's previous installment. But I will definitely like to recommend to those people who liked it's first part, they will enjoy it for some extend. The storyline continues and 2 important characters added to the main storyline. Sunny's performance was really great and perhaps the best in this entire show but Jimmy Shergill is less utilized of course. They had potential to use Jimmy Shergill as such a badass character but writing was definitely weak for that character. Retro Songs and Music was perfectly blended in it and the screenplay of course feels quite rich and colorful to watch.

Overall some kissing scenes are present and the subject of the content doesn't make it safe to for go with the family audiences. So 6 out of 10 Stars from my side and I'll consider it as an average one time watch without applying any logics.

A Return That Delivers as Expected
Mithil_Singal10 August 2024
The film stars Vikrant Massey, Taapsee Pannu, Sunny Kaushal, and Jimmy Sheirgill in a romantic thriller that effectively delivers on its promise.

The best part of the film is how it keeps you guessing with its plot twists, making it hard to predict what will happen next. Although the ending was predictable, as most of us could see where it was heading, the twists along the way were well-executed and aligned with the direction and script.

In my opinion, Vikrant Massey's role lacked depth and impact, as Sunny and Taapsee commanded most of the screen time. His performance lacked energy and presence, and he felt more like a third wheel than a central character throughout the film.

Jimmy Sheirgill's performance was also underwhelming, as he didn't fully embody the role of an angry cop seeking revenge for his nephew's death.

Overall, Taapsee and Sunny's acting was impressive, and the script was solid. However, it lacked the depth of dialogue seen in the previous film, *Hasseen Dillruba,* and the first part of the film was slow to build up. However, the second half picked up the pace, delivering a far more engaging experience with its thrills and twists.

A sequel no one asked for
mayurasuraj10 August 2024
Kanika plz stop writing plz. This is an utter garbage. Twists are hillarious. You just gave first flop for Hirani saheb, and your writings are not upto the mark. Plz mark these words. You should take a break.

And i had no expectations from taapsee coz she has very narrow range of acting. But vikrant you should skip these kind of roles coz you just climbed your peak with 12th fail. Dont add black marks with these type of trashes. Sunny kaushal is treat to eyes irrespective of holes of story. Entire movie is just like a cartoon which is similar to stories we imagine in our childhood. Its a total swim clz. Thank god i just passed minimum character limit 😪

Disappointing Sequel with Predictable Twists.
mearslanahmed11 August 2024
"Phir Aai Haseen Dilruba" tries to recapture the magic of its previous part but falls short in several areas. While the first part kept me on the edge of my seat, this sequel feels predictable and lacks the same spark. Some scenes are downright illogical, pulling you out of the experience. The story had potential, but it doesn't quite hit the mark like the original. The performances are decent, and there are moments of intrigue, but overall, it didn't live up to my expectations. If you loved the first one, this might leave you wanting more.

Watch it if you're a fan of the first movie, but manage your expectations. For others who didn't watch the first one they can skip it.

Garbage
kumar-arun11 August 2024
Warning: Spoilers
At some point during this movie I found myself wishing that I had a real Dinesh Pandit novel to read instead of watching whatever this was. Oh look - this character. Oh look that story. The police is everywhere. Watching closely - but yes - the guy trying to hide from the cop will teach in a COACHING center, facing tens if not hundreds of students on a daily basis. The lead pair meet openly - with the stupid plot of wearing earphones yet hanging around each other. And Rishu couldn't even be bothered to change his appearance? They just meet when they want to. Do what they want. And then Jimmy Shergill brags about his tenacity and persistence -and ultimately falls short.

It is an utterly ridiculous plot. Watch grass grow instead.

Predictable twists made it average affair
wonderwellwisher26 August 2024
A well-received Part 1 paved the way for a sequel, but whether it was necessary is highly debatable. Creating a sequel for a suspense thriller is a Herculean task, as the audience now knows the template and could easily guess the suspense.

This time, Rishu and Rani have absconded to Agra, but they aren't out of the reach of the law. With a new officer taking up the case, they are running for their lives, only to find another scapegoat who has fallen in love with Rani. Will they finally be convicted, or is there another twist awaiting them?

The movie is a rightful sequel and takes the story forward from where it ended in its predecessor. The makers have tried to include ample twists and turns, but sadly, you can see them coming from miles away. The proceedings are interesting, though, as the screenplay is neatly written and the editing is crisp.

Taapsee Pannu embodies the character well and shines throughout the narrative. Vikrant Massey does his part equally well. The surprise package is Sunny Kaushal, who outshines everyone with his impeccable performance. He gives off an eerie feeling with his innocent look, yet there's something unsettling about him. Jimmy Shergill is decent.

The songs play in the background, so they don't hamper the flow, but they likely won't find a place on your playlist. The writing could have been better.

Watch it for the love of the genre, and if you don't compare it to the first part, it works to a point."

Dumb movie with dumber twists with plotholes as big as the woodpeckers intelligence!
anshulkhandelwal4410 August 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Imagine having talented actors like Vikrant Massey, Tapsee Pannu, Jimmy Shergill and then making a movie which reeks of such mediocrity.

Anyone one can list down 100 plotholes but this movie does not deserve so much effort, so here are just a few:

1. Wear a cap and roam freely, no-one will recognize you 2. Police will keep a tab of which number you are getting the call most from, get its Aadhar card details but will not bother to locate the location from where the call is made 3. Police will go to the coaching center and yet it's expected that they will not be able to recognize their teacher in specs 4. Police will catch the fake visa person but still will not be able to proof Rishu is alive 5. 100 Police people are keeping a tab on Tapsee but no one will see Rishu who she meets so openly 6. The fact that CCTV camera exists, supercop Jimmy only finds out at the end of the movie. Not when he has to find Rishu 7. DNA test is what???

8. Background check of Abhimanyu before marriage? Why should cops bother?

Pandit ji ne Bola hai "Dhundhne par toh bhagwan bhi mil jaate hai yeh achhi script kya cheez hai?"

If you like the first one, this is even better than the first one with more twists and turns.
killergod14311 August 2024
This movie great thriller is a gripping narrative that weaves tension into every scene. Create a compelling labyrinth of suspense that keeps viewers guessing until the very end.

Characters are often morally ambiguous, with hidden motives and secrets that add layers to the story. This complexity keeps audiences engaged as they try to discern who can be trusted and who might betray them.

This movie thrillers is their ability to surprise and shock. Effective twists and turns shocking the audience. When done right, these twists can turn the narrative on its head, offering new perspectives on the plot and characters.

zkzuber16 August 2024
Seven star till the last 20 minutes or so of the climax , the movie started good I enjoyed it was fun but falls flat in the climax it was very dull unnecessarily stretched blame goes to the writer. If only the script was tight like it started the climax was very dull childish and unbelievable. I don't agree any one saying this is the worst movie on netflix definitely not there are worst movie than this one on netflix. All actors did good job tapsee too was good , like always there are many who hate her we know the reason why and wait for her movie to vent out their frusturation, like I said cant blame the actors the blame goes on script and director.

Worst movie in 5 decades
ishantez9 August 2024
I created this IMDb account for the first time in my life just to write this review, hoping to save others from wasting their time on such a disappointing sequel.

The first movie set a high standard, but this sequel completely tarnishes that experience.

It's shocking how they managed to destroy the essence of the original.

The anticipation built up was utterly wasted, leading to nothing but frustration.

I still can't believe I sat through the entire thing, expecting it to get better, but it never did.

This sequel is a complete letdown and not worth anyone's time.

Avoid it if you can. Totally..

Leaves u on suspense, but same plots at the end
hardi_shah9 August 2024
Warning: Spoilers
A good bolly movie after days. I felt it's really a good movie and it leaves me on suspense! Although the plots were same but not so predictable. Who died, who is alive, all is pure suspense with plot twists, but some resembled the same with part 1. No spoilers but this one thing of escaping is always the same.

The acting of Tapsee pannu at start seemed off, but actually it was being faked. But could have acted better.

I loved the plot twists, how abhimanyu was being introduced. At start i was wishing nothing bad to happen with him. The story was fast, and the way, he learned so quickly about Rani, just because she was drunk, a poor story.

And then after learning about her, his image changed quickly. Like hats off to the makeup team or anyone, from getting a man looking so cute and innocent, but the next moment his acting changed or what but yeahh it was a great thing.

It left me on edge since start, when he revealed that he killed his family. I was expecting rani and abhimanyu to end up together cuz i expected the new cast rather than that actor.

Felt bad when Abhijeet from cid, depromoted. I mean he should be the seniorest officer.

Hoping rishu to get killed and this expectations had me glued. But everytime the hero gets away but really expecting a change of cast. But sequel 3 will also come so why not. But the killings, how the stories combined with each other Like from 1st scene, to lallan visiting rishu. Also Poonam was unnecessary. And pushing rishu into crocodile and him escaping. All aligned at the end. I think i love this format which then all things add up at the end, leaves u on suspense.

I might remove a star for acting, but everytime them escaping seems so boring. They literally escaped in water for like 3 times. At the end also. They made it seem that they died but at the end they just escaped.

Means if u want to escape, just die or jump. What if you're alive, u might run.

Overall such a great movie and watched on the day of release itself so feels kinda first first watches before rhe world watched. But had me on suspense and plot twists were great. But some things like escaping in water all the same. The idea behind to get crocos away was great. And abhimanyu's acting really had me on suspense. What is this guy!? Is he lying? Or seriously innocent? Is he gonna help or escape? Glued to screen but the repeated plots could have been better.

overall a good thriller OTT movie
pandeysuryansh11 August 2024
The film is overall average and didn't meet expectations. The director reused twists from the first movie, making the plot predictable. Abhimanyu's portrayal of a loving yet psychopathic character, shaped by a troubled past, was compelling. However, Montu Uncle's character was exaggerated and lacked depth.

The film introduces a plotline where Rani is tortured and leaked to the media to trap Rishu, but this part of the story unfolds slowly. In the next scene, Rishu abruptly agrees to surrender.

While the film has its flaws, such as repetitive escape scenes and illogical elements, it maintains a brisk pace that keeps viewers engaged. The constant presence of Dinesh Pandit's shayari felt excessive, and Montu Uncle's character development was insufficient.

On a positive note, the movie avoids being boring and can be watched with family, with a few erotic scenes that can be skipped. The franchise's theme is reminiscent of "Drishyam 2," where the real story is revealed post-crime. I'd rate it 7 out of 10 stars.

wasswt9 August 2024
Weak story, weak screenplay and worst acting by All 3 characters. This is disaster if I will compare the same with 1st part. Not sure what they all seen in this story line up . The Jimmy Shergill character is totally waste. He is not able to so any justice from his role.

This story could have been better but it seems like the director wanted to finish in hurry hence they just focus on to make this movie in one go and was reliaying on previous part success.

Rani, Rishu and abhimanyu all acted like b grade movie seriously. Who play Snake & ladder in their first night. Who Buy 10bkg Tomatos . Disappointed 😞

Film misses the gripping experience as compared to its predecessor. More like a predictable end and situations. The predecessor had a charm and thrilling story on its own but the second was unable to cope up with its first. Character performance were ok but still was not impressive. The lack of better screenplay was seen all around the movie. They start with good but as we move they try to anyhow reach the climax in any way. I am not saying that its so boring but i felt some plot problems in the film. Overall We can watch it for one time nothing more couldn't be expected from it. Had made a better climax.

Painfully long. Script does not have any material to hold public for long.

If script is only one part of the problem. Tapsee and Kaushal are the rest of the problem. Bland acting. Tapsee is loud at times.

She is more like trying to search her acting skills throughout the movie but fails to do so.

Jimmy Shergill and Massey are underplayed. Director should refund his fees to Netflix.

Script writer should leave this profession for once and for all.

Nice storytelling, decent movie
joelnoronha17913 August 2024
Phir Aaayi Haseen Dilruba is an interesting movie, interesting story. Initially I thought the movie would be boring. But slowly and gradually as sI went ahead with the movie, I liked the movie for its dialogues, storytelling, love story and drama. Beautful chemistry of Sunny Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu. I also liked the acting of Vikrant Massey and Jimmy Shergill. Different type of movie. Songs were okay. Not too good. But movie was nice. I had nice timepass watching this movie. Aditya Srivastava acting was also nice. Good to see him in cop uniform again. I rate this movie 3 stars out of 5. This movie was nice, could have been better. Sometimes you would feel in the story the movie is taking you for a round. You might be lost. Just facts I am telling about the story.

Bhag Ja ayi bdi dilruba
EyeShivam11 August 2024
The movie begins from where the 1st part ended and focuses more on the thrill part than the first part. For the first hour , it reveals nothing and some tension is built. But the writing has a lot of inconsistencies with too many twists. On top of that, I feel the plans were meant to seem like a masterpiece to the audience, but they were all based on luck .

Unlike the first part, where the entire movie as carried by Vikrant Massey, this time he has Sunny & Jimmy as support.

Rani, Rishu and abhimanyu all acted like b grade movie seriously. Who play Snake & ladder in their first night. Gross 🤢

Best possible follow up
wasimmaqbool110 August 2024
The story starts from exactly where it was left in part-1.

It has a very good script for a sequel, a good star cast with the addition of Sunny k and Jimmy S. Which by the way are good actors, and did justice to their roles especially Sunny K.

What people usually miss is that a prequel can not deviate from a set patter so limiting the imagination or improvisation, but not compromising the original subject.

The script for Phir Ayee Hassen Dilruba is fantastic and cover all points at least for me.

So this movie did all that and so I liked it and I think people should watch it keeping the perspective and they would love it.

Not as good as the original
madanmarwah11 August 2024
Comparison with the original is inevitable like in all cases of sequels This is one more sequel which struggles to match up to the original which was much better in all aspects. It is difficult to pin point the weak points but the narrative seems to be muddled up and maybe it requires a bit of rework in the screenplay to make it more convincing. There are glaring inconsistencies in presentation and loose ends in the investigation. Two glaring points. One, surprising that the cops are not able to locate an guy living in the town who moves about without a disguise and has a prosthetic arm too. Second, in an amusing scene to the cop's simple question showing a photograph " Have you seen this guy ?", the land lady says "I will be back in two minutes. Do you want some tea ?" and the cop says " yes".

The narrative lacks credibility and conviction at most places leading up to a ridiculously designed climax on top of a hill. Tapsee Pannu exudes the right amount of sensuality and oomph required of the character and she is helped to project this by getting drenched in rain. Actors Vikrant Massey, Sunny Kaushal and Jimmy Shergill have acted adequately within the constraints of the characters they play. Sunny impresses while Jimmy does not. Vikrant does well. However a plus point is the superb cinematography bringing out the atmosphere specially at night like the noir type with rain, neon lights etc for effect.

Please spare me, Dinesh Pandit.
chand-suhas11 August 2024
Rani Kashyap is now living in Agra as a beautician while Rishi is on the run. She has trapped Abhimanyu and Rishi is being tormented by his landlady, Poonam. As Rani and Rishi find it hard to meet as they evade the cops, enters Mrityunjay Paswan. The unsolved murder of Neel has already pricked his uncle Mrityunjay and he has vowed to catch Rishi and Rani. As the case gets all too personal, once again Dinesh Pandit's work comes to the aid of the couple but this time, there is Abhimanyu too. Will the couple continue to evade the cops or get caught, forms rest of the story.

There were several good ideas sprinkled all over and I cannot deny that. The problem is those stuff doesn't come together to shape this attempt into a good film. I had issues with the previous film as well and definitely did not keep any expectations from the sequel, even then the uneven writing that keeps on getting way too ambitious, ends up as a tedious watch. Sunny Kaushal's Abhimanyu is half baked and though his backstory is revealed eventually, there is barely any chemistry between him and Tapsee's Rani to make this work. Neither there is an attempt to showcase how Rani traps Abhimanyu. He just loves her as much as Rishi does and that becomes the justification.

A lot of cinematic liberties have been taken and it definitely sounded good on paper. On screen, it all falls flat as the entire investigation is presented to be weak. There is only so much actors can do to dramatically elevate the drama. This is what I meant about the good things sprinkled all over and these individual moments definitely look good. With a better screenplay, probably this one had a chance to be decent instead it leaves the actors with very little help and ends up wasting couple of good ideas which deserved better execution.

Storytelling is very bad

Only for those who have watched first part of the movie. It's continuation from where it ended in first part. I was indeed excited to watch this but it is disappointing. Storyline is good but storytelling has been bad. It's very convulted n messy. Unnecessary poetry dialogues which make one very boring. In terms of entertainment not worth it. Story revolves around how Rani n Rishabh tries to cover up Rishabh being alive n in the process, Rani gets married to another person n all 3 escape plan from police. Available on Netflix. My ratings 6/10!

After 3 years Kanika dhillon (writer) delivered sequel of Haseen dilruba the major missing part of this movie from the first one is police interrogation ..part which is very short in this movie ... Story - story is average... No exciting & tedious part is more in the story but writer is tried well...... Narration is good where every time actors find logic with Dinesh Pandit's Murder Mystery novel Screenplay - not as good as like Haseen dilruba it could be better Direction - is good if you watch the story & writing part the director has done good job Overall it is is average movie I want to give rating 6.6/10 but you know this option is not available if you are a fan of fictional Dinesh Pandit & hangover of Haseen dilruba has not gone yet the you should watch this....
