Actor Martin Harris currently co-stars in writer/director David O. Russell's star-studded 1930s murder mystery, Amsterdam. He also recently portrayed a Czech police officer in Netflix's edgy international thriller, The Gray Man; he co-starred opposite Colin Firth in The Staircase biographical crime series; he played a German bartender opposite Tony Dalton in the final season of Better Call Saul; and he's one of actor David Harbour's fellow prisoners in a Soviet gulag in the latest season of the acclaimed science fiction series Stranger Things.
A native of Wroclaw, Poland, Martin started his career as an international sportswriter, broadcaster and author, with a specialty in NBA basketball. Not only did he write a best-selling book about the Los Angeles Lakers, but he credits the late Kobe Bryant for giving him the salient advice to follow his dreams and become an actor.
Prior to Bryant's advice, Martin got a quick dose of film history when he became fascinated with a DVD set of the twenty-five best movies of all time. That combined with a passion for James Bond movies and the cinema of Robert De Niro led him to become an actor in Hollywood.
After studying intensely at the Stella Adler Theater and the Beverly Hills Playhouse, Martin began to land gradually larger roles in major television and film productions. These included the part of Lt. Nikolai Zybulski, a primary adversary in TNT's The Last Ship post-apocalyptic series; a Croatian agent in the controversial feature The Hunt; and a prison tower sharpshooter in Red Notice.
When he isn't working in film and television, Martin loves rock music (he once headlined a heavy metal band called Army of Darkness back in Poland), and he also does significant voice work for computer and video games - one of those voices is fan-favorite "Krueger," the beloved character on Call of Duty.- Cinematographer

The immensely prolific actor Reinhard Glemnitz was trained at the Otto-Falckenberg-School in Munich and launched his career on Cologne's cabaret scene. He worked for Bavarian radio, then went on the stage in Wuppertal and in 1961 joined the Bavarian State Theatre in Munich as an ensemble member. Some twenty years later, he was able to celebrate his greatest theatrical success in Vienna, Berlin and Munich as Colonel Juan Peron in the musical Evita. In 1996 he scored another hit as the idiosyncratic, parsimonious Horace Vandergelder (the role played by Walter Matthau in the film) in Hello Dolly at the Komdie im Bayerischen Hof .
In films from 1954, Glemnitz began by playing soldiers, public officials and attorneys. By the mid-60s, he had segued into episodic television, making repeat appearances in the cold war espionage series Die fünfte Kolonne (1963) and in Germany's first entry into the science fiction genre on TV, Raumpatrouille - Die phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffes Orion (1966). However, Glemnitz was to become most famous for his crime dramas, first as narrator of the intro for Das Kriminalmuseum (1963), and, secondly, from 1968 to 1975, as Erik Ode's logical thinking offsider Inspektor Robert Heines in Der Kommissar (1969). This role garnered Glemnitz, along with three other cast members, an impressive 5 Bambi Awards (1970, 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1975). Prior to his retirement from the screen in 2006, he made guest appearances on other diverse TV shows like Der Millionenbauer (1979), Forsthaus Falkenau (1989), Derrick (1974) and Tatort (1970). He has also occasionally portrayed historical characters like Johann Reichsgraf von Aldringen (1588-1634) in the 4-part period drama Wallenstein (1978) and General Hans Speidel (1897-1984) in the American miniseries War and Remembrance (1988) .
Few others have made a more substantial contribution to the art of voice acting. Reinhard Glemnitz has been the German dubbing voice for a multitude of stars, including Patrick Stewart, Robert Duvall, Christopher Plummer, Michael Caine, Bruce Dern and Anthony Perkins. He narrated the classic Franco-German adventure series Der Seewolf (1971) from the perspective of its protagonist (Edward Meeks). He provided the German voice for Murray Hamilton in Jaws (1975), Edward Fox in A Bridge Too Far (1977), Richard Harris in Camelot (1967), Mitch Pileggi in Stargate: Atlantis (2004) and Patrick Malahide (as Walsingham, in Elizabeth I (2005)) - these, and many, many more.- Tatja Seibt was born on 3 March 1944 in Breslau, Silesia, Germany [now Wroclaw, Dolnoslaskie, Poland]. Jan Jakub Kolski was born on 29 January 1956 in Wroclaw, Dolnoslaskie, Poland. He is a director and writer, known for Venice (2010), Jancio Wodnik (1993) and To Kill a Beaver (2012).- Strongheart, the German shepherd who was a canine superstar of American cinema, was born and raised in Imperial Germany, where he was trained to be a police dog and assigned to the German military during World War I. Called "Etzel von Oringer," the German shepherd was born on October 1, 1917, descended from a carefully bred line. Trained as an attack dog, the 125-pound (57 kilograms) Strongheart was fearless. American director Laurence Trimble, who was famous as an animal trainer, and his wife, Jane Murfin, a screenwriter, had been searching Europe for a dog that could appear in motion pictures. When Trimble came across the three-year-old Strongheart in 1920, he knew he had the makings of a canine star.
The major problem Trimble faced was that, trained as a police dog, Strongheart had not socialized much with human beings. Back in Hollywood, it took Trimble months to train the dog in order to de-emphasize his harsh police dog-style training. Trimble had the dog by his side virtually non-stop for months, continually rewarding him for good behavior. Eventually, Strongheart's prior police habits were broken as his Libra personality came to the fore, and he was turned into a magnificently trained animal. However, certain aspects of his flat-footed past remained with him: Blessed with great instincts, particularly regarding the moral character of strangers, the dog would track people of dubious morality.
There were many canine stars of silent movies, including Teddy, the Great Dane who co-starred with a young Gloria Swanson, the collie Jean at Vitagraph, and the English pit bull Luke. In the 1920's, a group of German shepherd dogs romped on-screen and became stars, with Strongheart and `Rin Tin Tin' the most prominent among them.
His first movie, "The Silent Call" (1921), bore Trimble's expectations out, making Strongheart a star, beloved by movie-goers of all ages. Strongheart was given the star treatment, traveling by train to make personal appearances, at which he was greeted by crowds of adoring fans. He was written up in newspapers and magazines, and even the radio proclaimed "Strongheart" a star. A dog food named after him became popular and is still being produced over three-quarters of a century later. In the ultimate accolade, J. Allen Boone wrote two books about the shepherd, "Letters to Strongheart" and "Kinship with All Life."
Strongheart appeared in "Brawn of the North" (1922), "The Love Master" (1924), "White Fang" (1925), "North Star" (1925) and "The Return of Boston Blackie" (1927). Love came his way when he was paired with Lady Jule, a female German Shepherd who co-starred with him. The happy canine couple produced many litters, including offspring who would sire pups who grew up to be movie stars themselves.
The Trimbles placed a plaque over Strongheart's bed that contained a quote from the Book of Job: "Ask the very beasts, and they will teach you."
Tragedy struck down Strongheart at the height of his career, when he slipped and was burned by a studio light. The burn rapidly turned into a tumor and claimed Strongheart's life on or around June 24, 1929.
Strongheart's grandson "Lightning" was a canine movie star in the the 1930's, appearing in "A Dog of Flanders," "Wings in the Dark," and "When Lightning Strikes." Another grandson, "Silver King," also appeared in the movies and made personal appearances as part of a safety program for children. - Cinematographer

Eugen Schüfftan moved from his motherland, Germany, to France in 1933 to escape the rising Nazi movement. He moved to the US in 1940 and became a member of Local 644, the East Coast cinematographers chapter of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE). He invented the Schüfftan Process for optical special effects that was used until it was replaced by the simpler matte method. He received the Academy Award for black and white cinematography in 1962 for The Hustler (1961).
For a variety of reasons, Schufftan did not receive proper screen credit for many films he photographed. Director Edgar G. Ulmer, who worked with Schufftan on several films, said it was because he wasn't in the ASC (American Society of Cinematographers) and therefore wasn't allowed to take screen credit. Ulmer said that on one or two of the films he made with Schufftan he was forced to credit Jockey Arthur Feindel, the camera operator, as the cinematographer because of that.- Actor
