Spoiler Alert: For those who haven’t read the book, this piece spoils the plot of It Ends With Us.
Seven years after his Ted Talk about toxic masculinity, Jane the Virgin star and Five Feet Apart director Justin Baldoni combined directing and acting for the highly anticipated film adaptation of It Ends With Us, in which he stars as the abusive neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid.
Based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, the story centers on Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) who first encounters Ryle in a close-up rooftop moment before meeting him again later after she opens her Boston flower shop. Ryle foregoes his no strings attached relationship style to pursue Lily and eventually marry her, though she starts to experience violence at his hands before and after the wedding.

The Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni-starring romantic drama “It Ends With Us” will open in mainland China cinemas next month.
Sony Pictures said that the Baldoni-directed picture has received the necessary approvals in China for it to open on Aug. 30.
All imported films seeking a revenue-sharing release in China have to undergo multiple approvals and clear censorship before setting a release that is handled by a state-owned company.
While there have been times in the recent past that these controls have been used to limit the flow of Hollywood titles into China, at present there seem to be little hampering the U.S. studios major movies.
In other territories the film’s distribution is handled by Columbia Pictures. And it receives its North American release on Aug. 9.

Exclusive: The Sydney Sweeney & Paul Walter Hauser title, Americana, which was one of the prolific acquisition titles from last year’s SXSW, has finally seen its worldwide rights go to Lionsgate.
Why did a movie with big stars and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes take so long to sell? I understand part of the hold-up stems from the pic’s financier, Bron Studios, going into bankruptcy.
The Tony Tost written and directed movie follows local outsiders and outcasts in a small South Dakota town whose lives violently intertwine after a rare artifact falls onto the black market. Americana also stars pop singer Halsey, Eric Dane, Zahn McClarnon, Gavin Maddox Bergman, Simon Rex, Derek Hinkey, Toby Huss, and Harriet Sansom Harris.
Pic is produced by Alex Saks. EPs are Aaron L. Gilbert, Steven Thibault, Alison-Jane Roney, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, Terry Dougas, and Jean-Luc de Fanti.

Maybe there’s just something in the air. When Warner Bros. dropped a new trailer for Greta Gerwig’s eventual blockbuster and multiple Oscar nominee “Barbie” back in May, seemingly everybody went nuts for a single standout line that came to capture so much of its charm, as star Margot Robbie (as Barbie!) pauses during a candy-colored dance party to ask her cohorts if they “ever think about dying.”
Even before Gerwig and Robbie were thinking about dying, Daisy Ridley was already there. Five months earlier, the former “Star Wars” star came to Sundance 2023 with the alluringly titled Rachel Lambert dramedy “Sometimes I Think About Dying,” which Ridley both starred in and produced.
When I mentioned the line to Ridley when we spoke earlier this month, she laughed. “Oh, my God, yeah! Hilarious,” the actress and producer said. “I never even put two and two together. I was like, ‘Yes,...

The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel “It Ends With Us” has set Feb. 9, 2024 as its theatrical release date despite its halted production in the wake of the WGA writers’ strike.
The Columbia and Wayfarer Studios film will star Blake Lively as Lily Bloom, a Boston resident who finds an unexpected kindred spirit in neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni). Their relationship takes some twists and turns, and Lily’s high school love interest Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) comes back into the picture to complicate things further.
According to a Deadline report from June’s shutdown, less than half the movie has been shot. Filming is paused until the completion of the writers’ strike following the production’s failure to persuade the guild last month that Wayfarer Studios’ cofinancing of the project made it an indie film, which would have allowed it to continue filming within the strike’s guidelines.

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence just goes for it in the raunchy, R-rated trailer for No Hard Feelings. Lawrence desccribes Gene Stupnitsky (Good Boys) and John Phillips’ script as the funniest she’s ever read, and it’s obvious in her performance that she was all-in on the physical comedy and playing a woman who seduces a 19-year-old virgin.
“I guess I like cringe humor,” said Lawrence in an interview with EW. “I do like the idea of comedy that makes people uncomfortable. I love when people are watching through their hands, through their fingers. Nothing makes me happier. And I love a lot of the stuff that Harold Ramis did, his movies.”
In addition to Jennifer Lawrence, the comedy stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Hasan Minhaj, and Matthew Broderick. Lawrence, Alex Saks, Naomi Odenkirk, Marc Provissiero, and Justine Ciarrocchi produced, with Kerry Orent and John Phillips executive producing.

Late last year, Jennifer Lawrence had returned to her indie roots as she starred in an intimate character drama titled Causeway, which dealt with grief, forgiveness, acceptance, and moving on. Lawrence will be venturing into lighter-hearted material, still meant for mature audiences, but in a different manner. She is starring in the raunchy comedy, No Hard Feelings. The title is a double entendre, which plays on the concept of her character being hired to take the V-card of a socially awkward college-bound teen by his concerned parents.
The comedy comes from Gene Stupnitsky, who had co-wrote 2011’s Bad Teacher and 2009’s Year One. He recently helmed Good Boys, which was a shake-up of an American Pie-esque movie, only this time involving younger boys, and their ultimate goal was to kiss a girl. Here, Stupnitsky once again plays with conventions in a script he co-wrote with John Phillips, who had produced...

An Uber driver without a car, Jennifer Lawrence finds herself financially stuck in a new trailer for the R-rated comedy “No Hard Feelings.” That is, until a wealthy couple offers her a Buick Regal if she agrees to “date” their awkward 19-year-old son before he goes off to college.
“You won’t even rent your house out, but now you’re gonna rent out your vag?” one of Lawrence’s friends asks upon learning about her arrangement, to which Lawrence responds: “You have a Road Runner tattoo covering your entire back, I don’t think you should tell anybody what to do with their body.”
In the trailer, Lawrence frantically circles a high school party in search of Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), barging into bedrooms only to find teenagers sitting on their phones. “Doesn’t anyone fuck anymore?” she asks, stupefied.

Jennifer Lawrence is looking to acquire a car by any means necessary in the first trailer for Sony’s upcoming comedy No Hard Feelings.
In the footage that dropped Thursday ahead of the film’s June 23 theatrical release, Lawrence plays Maddie, a down-on-her-luck Uber driver who loses her vehicle. In a turn of desperation, she responds to an ad placed by a couple looking for someone to date their shy 19-year-old son, Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman), before he heads to Princeton in the fall.
The trailer shows Maddie trying to loosen Percy up by encouraging him to drink and skinny-dip. But her efforts clearly don’t go as planned, as he accidentally injures Maddie more than once.
“This kid is unfuckable,” Lawrence’s character laments.
During a night out at a classy restaurant, Maddie offers Percy wisdom about not feeling pressured to impress others. “The best part about getting older...
