NBC will give the pilot of Peacock original drama series Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol a linear sampling.
The broadcast network will air the first episode of the mystery thriller, which is based on The Da Vinci Code author’s 2009 novel, at 10 p.m. Monday, November 8. It will replace a repeat of Ordinary Joe that previously was planned.
It marks the first time that NBC has aired an episode of a Peacock original on its linear schedule. The series originally was developed for NBC as Langdon and moved to the streamer late in the development process so it won’t be too much of a tonal departure for the broadcast network.
The move is made to give the 10 -part series, which debuted on the NBCU streamer on September 16, more exposure ahead of its season finale.

Based on Dan Brown’s novel about symbologist Robert Langdon, The Lost Symbol was planned as a movie in the Tom Hanks franchise. Instead, producers adapted it into a prequel series, with Ashley Zukerman as the Harvard professor. “In the book, Langdon is a seasoned adventurer,” says exec producer Dan Dworkin. “Here, he finds himself in the middle of a mystery for the first time.” (Credit: Rafy/Peacock) The game’s on when, in order to rescue his mentor (Eddie Izzard) from kidnappers, the novice hero follows cryptic instructions to decipher symbols near D.C. Expect tricky clues, Masonic lore, CIA agendas and chilling antagonists like Mal’akh (Beau Knapp). He is, according to fellow EP Jay Beattie, “someone who is focused on becoming a living god, and who sees the people around him as worthy sacrifices.” Yikes! Exclusive: Valorie Curry (The Tick) and Eddie Izzard (Six Minutes To Midnight) are set to star opposite Ashley Zukerman in Langdon, NBC’s drama pilot based on Dan Brown’s best-selling thriller novel The Lost Symbol.
The project, which hails from Imagine Television, CBS TV Studios and Universal Television, was among five 2020 pilots which NBC yesterday committed to filming later this year, once production can safely begin. Curry and Izzard’s castings were already in the works in mid-March when Hollywood production was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Written by Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, Langdon follows the early adventures of famed Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Zukerman), who must solve a series of deadly puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a chilling global conspiracy.

Langdon is starting to take shape at NBC.

NBC has given a formal pilot order to Langdon, a drama based on Dan Brown’s best-selling thriller novel The Lost Symbol, as the network is wrapping up its pilot pickups.
The project, from Imagine Television, CBS TV Studios and Universal Television, had been on track for a pilot order, having scored a big production commitment from NBC last summer.
The pilot green light was given to a script by The Crossing creators Dan Dworkin & Jay Beattie. Originally Daniel Cerone had been attached to write the adaptation and penned a draft before departing the project during the development process last year, I hear. Brown, the producers and the network then brought in Dworkin and Beattie, who did their take on the material.

American Horror Story 1984 Episode 5
American Horror Story is no stranger to playing with the format of a television series. In Roanoke, they went from a reenactment of true events to a reality television series about the reenactment crew and the real characters sharing a haunted house together. It was a pretty bold move and resulted in one of my favorite seasons of the show thus far, because it did something a little different without losing sight of what people expect and want from American Horror Story. However bold as going meta was at the time, it wasn't as bold as what happens in “Red Dawn,” the halfway point of season 9.

The third season of the “Scream” reboot is finally happening — but it’s airing on VH1 instead of it’s original home at MTV. VH1 released the first look trailer today, and announced that the three-night event will kick off on July 8.
From executive producer Queen Latifah, the third season features Academy Award nominee Mary J. Blige, Grammy Award winner Tyga, Cj Wallace (“Notorious”), Keke Palmer (“Akeelah and the Bee”) and model and actress Paris Jackson.
The reboot cast new characters is the classic story of a group of teenagers being targeted by a serial killer in a ghoulish mask and black cloak, wielding a tell-tale bloody knife.

ABC is not moving forward with a second season of drama series The Crossing.
The Crossing premiered April 2 with American Idol as a lead-in, but that episode of the revived singing-competition series happened to match a series-low demo rating for a regular telecast. Post-Idol, the midseason drama managed to eke out a win in the 10 Pm hour with a 1.0 and 5.45 million viewers. It outperformed same night last year for ABC by double digits but fell short of previous week’s The Good Doctor wrapper and its season average, though that still left it ABC’s second-most-watched Monday 10 Pm debut, behind Doctor, in nearly three years.
The series stared Steve Zahn as the sheriff of a small fishing town in Oregon who must deal with dozens of refugees from a war-torn country who arrive on its beach. One twist: The country they’re from is America — and the war they’re...

ABC has picked up four new series from its sister ABC Studios, including a new drama from Shonda Rhimes’ company, a drama about saving the world (starring Jason Ritter), a series about refugees… from America, and comedy that sounds like it might take a few cues from the recently installed White House inhabitant.
In “The Mayor,” Brandon Micheal Hall plays an aspiring young rapper, Courtney Rose, who decides – as a publicity stunt – to run for mayor. He did it solely to generate buzz and become rich and famous. Instead, he is actually elected mayor, an outcome he never predicted. Now he must lean on his mother (Yvette Nicole Brown) and friends, including Valentina (Lea Michele) to become the mayor he didn’t think he wanted to be.

With pilot season nearly finished, we’re rounding up some of the shows we can’t wait to see. Even if you secretly think TV is a vast wasteland (as Newton Minow once put it), we think you’ll appreciate these upcoming dramas and comedies for their fresh storylines. Drama “The Crossing”Sandrine Holt (“House of Cards”) will star in this futuristic ABC pilot written by Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie (“Criminal Minds”). The show centers on refugees who seek asylum. But—plot twist—the refugees are from America. They’re fleeing a war that’s set 250 years into the future.
