New Delhi, Oct 24 (Ians) Ahead of Dussehra, which emphasises on the celebration of the triumph of good over evil, actors have shared their favourite films that define the theme of the festival.
For veteran actress Himani Shivpuri, it's the 1998 film Salman Khan-starrer "Bandhan".
"'Bandhan' is easily one of my favourites as the title itself talks of eternal bonds. It is an excellent example of a movie that shows truth always prevails. For all those have not seen this movie, the premise of the story was how Jackie Shroff's character falls prey to selfish motives and remarries. This leads to him spoiling his relations with his ex-wife and his brother-in-law. He realises much later the importance of relationships and the mistakes he made all along," the actress, who also featured in the movie, told Ians.

While we get to watch new films all the time, the lockdown could be a golden chance to catch up with a few classics across genres. Digital platforms are overflowing with them, and you would literally be spoilt for choice selecting some really enjoyable stuff that has come out of Bollywood over the decades. Twenty-one days, it would seem, is too short a time to catch up with what really defines vintage Bollywood and is available in the Ott libraries.
Ians picks a few old films that you might want to revisit, that will let you relax and bust the stress of lockdown. Of course, this is not a definitive list.
* Chupke Chupke (1975)
Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the comedy film is about a man pretending to be a driver and fooling his wife's brother-in-law as an attempt to prove that the brother-in-law is not as smart as he claims to be.

Ranvir Shorey while being a celebrated actor has also had his fair share of reality television, his close proximity to the participants of reality television, apparently, compelled him to sign up for his latest film Blue Mountain.
“It is a rather myopic view if people think reality television is only what they see on the television. What we see is the journey of the winners, the journey of the kids who have done well and succeeded, but there are thousands of those who participate and don’t win. It is their crushed dreams that compelled me to sign Blue Mountain. A film about a journey of a small town boy into the world of reality television. Every year we see fresh faces appearing and disappearing from the Hindi film industry. While some make it big; others are left out in the rat race of Bollywood. New comers like Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma had started their careers under big banners and this helped them climb up the ladder of Bollywood. Yet, not all actors are as lucky as them. Some end up nowhere in spite of being launched under big banners. Take the example of Gracy Singh, the actress who starred opposite Amir Khan in Lagaan. She only lasted for a few movies and gradually sublimed as other actresses gained popularity. Thus, Bollywood can be seemingly unpredictable...

With the platform already set by producer Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted 3D in 2011, it looked easy for Karishma Kapoor, who planned her comeback to Hindi cinema after a long hiatus of nine years, to make her return an impressive one. However, Lolo’s fans are going to be everything but entertained in her reincarnation attempt in the world of Bollywood with Bvg Films and Dar Motion Pictures’ Dangerous Ishhq. Seemingly, the fact that this movie stars Karishma who was a hit in the late 90s and the early 2000’s has been taken for granted by the film maker who has turned a blind eye towards the story line.
Produced by Arun Rangachari and directed by Vikram Bhatt, Dangerous Ishhq is a woman centric story (second in a row after Vikram Bhatt’s Hate Story) where the protagonist dies several times during the course of the movie in a bid to get united with her lover.

Agra, Jan 11: Director Suman Ganguli is all set to shoot Gracy Singh-starrer 'Blue Mountain', which is reportedly inspired by singer Vani Jayaram who once alleged that none other than Lata Mangeshkar had nipped her Bollywood career in the bud.
When asked about the subject of the film, the director said: 'I do not wish to raise unnecessary controversy but if viewers see some reflections of some popular singer's life in the movie, they wouldn't be too far off the mark.'
Ganguli was in the Taj city to finalise locations for the shooting of 'Blue Mountain'.

'Lagaan' (2001)
Starring Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, Rachel Shelley, Paul Blackthorne
Many Indian films these days try to cater to Western sensibilities in order to gain critical acclaim abroad and boost foreign box office—and these attempts usually fail. Why, then, did an unabashedly Bollywood film like 'Lagaan'—with its effusive melodrama, six musical numbers, and nearly four-hour running time—successfully capture the attention of the West and even snag an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film?
Many Americans, including this reviewer, had never even heard of Bollywood until 'Lagaan' came along. It's only the third Hindi-language film in history to get an Oscar nod—'Mother India' (1957) and 'Salaam Bombay' (1988) being the other two. 'Lagaan' was helmed by the talented Ashutosh Gowariker, who later directed the award-winning 'Swades' (2004) and 'Jodhaa Akbar' (2008), but 'Lagaan' is known as Aamir Khan's baby. It is not an easy task being a star. Taxing schedules, taxing roles, taxing challenges all along. But what makes it interesting is when the same stars come together to infuse the spirit in the public to pay their income tax on time. Noted filmmaker Jayant Gilatar has managed a casting coup for a film, with a galaxy of stars like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Om Puri and Adi Godrej and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee himself. The short film, however, is not a commercial flick but made for the Government of India. It has the superstars appealing fervently to people to pay their income tax and help the nation develop into a modern country.Actor Ashish 'LSD' Sharma hosted a surprise party for Jayant to celebrate the completion of this public service film. So where did this pretty and talented actress disappear from Bollywood? Or rather why did she disappear? Rumor has it that, Gracy had become a victim of her own arrogance! Thanks to her stuck-up up outlook and difficult.

‘Dekh Re Dekh’, which started life as `Dekh Bhai Dekh’ till a court order prevented its use, is an odd-bod. It’s set in the middle of nowhere, populated with nowhere people, busy getting nowhere slowly.
There’s a village which has a pond, a temple, a palace and a haunted ‘haveli’, and a foursome which wants to get rich, very, very quick. Siddharth needs the money to buy himself a job, Raghuveer an Mla’s seat, Gracy an ‘out’ of her hideous.
