Josh Brolin was reportedly offered the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Dcu Lanterns series, but we recently learned that he had passed. Follow-up reports claimed that Ewan McGregor, Matthew McConaughey, and Chris Pine were also in contention, with Pine expected to get the offer if Brolin declined.
There have been conflicting reports about Pine being in the mix, but he appears to be the most popular choice to take on the role of the ring-slinging hero. Pine has already played a DC Comics character, Steve Trevor, in the Wonder Woman movies, but most fans don't seem to mind since the Dceu is no more.
Now, artist 21xFour has shared some new fan-art of Pine as Jordan, and he certainly looks the part.
Stephen Williams is believed to be in talks to direct the pilot, with Lucy Tcherniak rumored to be in negotiations to helm an undisclosed number of episodes.

NBC has released a new trailer for Season 2 of Found, which finds Gabi’s (Shanola Hampton) world turned upside down after her childhood kidnapper Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) has escaped.
The trailer with Gabi revealing her big secret and harrowing backstory to her colleague, Detective Mark Trent (Brett Dalton). She admits to Mark that she had kept Sir a prisoner in her basement, and he is now on the loose.
“This is my fault. He took my sister as payback for what I have been doing for the last nine months,” Gabi tells Mark in the trailer.
Sir continues to taunt Gabi, telling her, “It’s been a long time without a chain between us. How does it feel to be free? In the open? And yet still connected.”
Kelli Williams, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta and Karan Oberoi also star.

Stephen Amell is very proud of the work he did in Arrow and has never shied away from sharing his belief that the Arrowverse wasn't given the respect it deserved by Warner Bros. executives.
The actor frequently campaigned for himself and his fellow actors on The CW to be part of the Dceu, something that was never the plan (no great surprise given the very clear line that the studio has always drawn between its big and small screen adaptations).
Catching up with Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum, Amell reflected on working with prolific producer Greg Berlanti and talk soon turned to a possible Arrow revival.
"I mean I joked about it," he said, "because I think that it would be wonderful one these days to go back and do something that was in a medium where I could break bones and drop an F-bomb and just sort of go the 'hard R' [rating] version of Arrow.

Now slated to anchor NBC’s Suits: L.A. spinoff, actor Stephen Amell had his sights set on a different offshoot show right before he auditioned for the Los Angeles lawyer role.
Amell revealed that he tried out for the role of a younger Leroy Jethro Gibbs character in NCIS: Origins just days before he auditioned for his Suits: L.A. character Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who started over in Los Angeles and built a legacy for himself. The role for the NCIS prequel went to Austin Stowell.
“My focus wasn’t on Suits L.A. Two auditions came in [that week]. One was via Zoom, and this audition for suits was actually in person, which I remember being incredibly excited about because I don’t remember the last time [that happened,” Amell told Michael Rosenbaum on a new episode of the latter’s Inside of You podcast.“My actual focus that week...

The 76th Emmy Awards are officially in the history books. The ceremony provided great honors, funny presenters and, as usual, some incredible acceptance speeches. Best Limited Series, Best Movie/Limited Writing, Best Movie/Limited Actor: Richard Gadd, “Baby Reindeer”
Nobody made a bigger splash at this year’s ceremony than Gadd, who took home three awards for his semi-autobiographical Netflix limited series. “This is the stuff of dreams,” he uttered as he accepted his first award, and the memorable quotes kept coming. He revealed that 10 years ago he was “down and out” and never thought he’d get his life together. He encouraged everyone going through a difficult time,...

Cast and executive producers of ‘Shogun’ on stage at the 2024 Emmys (Disney/Frank Micelotta)
Father and son Eugene and Dan Levy did a respectable job of hosting the 2024 Primetime Emmys, popping in just enough throughout the two-hour running time to guide the show without overstaying their welcome. Their opening bit avoided any controversial topics, and Dan Levy got a big laugh when he described the Emmys as broadcast TV’s biggest night for honoring movie stars on streaming services. Eugene also earned solid applause when he joked, “In the true spirit of The Bear, we will not be making any jokes,” while addressing the show’s controversial classification as a comedy.
Speaking of The Bear, the series was awarded four Emmys during the broadcast in the Actor (Jeremy Allen White), Supporting Actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Supporting Actress (Liza Colón-Zayas), and Outstanding Directing categories. But Hacks pulled off a surprise win, snagging the Comedy Series Emmy.

Prolific writer, director and producer Greg Berlanti spoke of his personal journey and lifelong love of television when receiving the 2024 Governors Award at the Emmy Awards.
“I wanted to be a part of television even before I knew how that was possible,” the 52-year-old showrunner, one of the youngest individual recipients of the award, said in his emotional speech. “So many Gen X kids in the 70s and 80s, the one color TV our family could afford was on around the clock in our house, and I watched and loved all of it.”
Berlanti used that childhood experience as inspiration for his company Berlanti Production’s logo.
“There wasn’t a lot of gay characters on television back then, and I was a closeted gay kid, and it’s hard to describe how lonely that was at the time,” Berlanti continued. “There was no Internet to connect with other queer kids,...

8:04pm Pt To close out the night, Catherine O’Hara comes out to present best comedy. After ripping up a fake envelope, she opens the real one and announces an absolute jawdropper of a result: Max’s Hacks, for its third season, has pulled off a massive upset over the second season of FX’s The Bear, the most-nominated comedy of the year and, this year, already the comedy with the most wins in a single season. It’s hard not to see this as a statement from TV Academy members that, as great as The Bear is — and it is truly great — this award is intended for shows that actually make people laugh, which season 2 of The Bear did not do much of, and which season 3, which was rolling out during voting for season 2, really did not do much of.

While we await word on which actors will step into the co-lead roles of John Stewart and Hal Jordan in HBO's upcoming Lanterns series, we may know who has been enlisted to direct some of the episodes.
Stephen Williams is believed to be in talks to direct the pilot, but according to Daniel Richtman, Lucy Tcherniak is also in negotiations to helm an undisclosed number of episodes.
Tcherniak has previously directed Sunny (2024), Station Eleven (2021) and The End of the F***ing World (2017).
Josh Brolin was reportedly offered the Jordan role, but we recently learned that he had passed. Follow-up reports claimed that Ewan McGregor, Matthew McConaughey, and Chris Pine were also in contention, with Pine expected to get the offer if Brolin declined.
We don't know if Pine is next in line or not, but the trades believe that McConaughey is definitely not in the mix.

NBC is filling the medical drama void left by the end of New Amsterdam with Brilliant Minds, based on the life of author/neurologist Oliver Sacks (The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat). Starring Zachary Quinto as Dr. Oliver Wolf, the one-hour drama joins NBC’s primetime lineup on September 23, 2024 at 10pm Et/Pt.
“In many ways, our show is a love letter to Dr. Sacks, a man who dedicated his life to destigmatizing mental illness, telling stories about people living with neurological conditions in a way that was accessible to the world,” stated series creator, writer and executive producer Michael Grassi. “Our core theme embodies the message that defined Sacks’ life: No matter how ‘other’ you may feel, you are not alone.”
Season one also stars Tamberla Perry as Dr. Carol Pierce, Ashleigh Lathrop as Ericka Kinney, Alex MacNicoll as Dr. Van Markus, Aury Krebs as Dr.

Last week, reliable sources reported that Josh Brolin had been offered the co-lead role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Dcu Lanterns series, but it sounds like DC Studios might need to continue the search.
According to THR, Brolin has declined the opportunity to suit-up as the veteran ring-slinging hero.
Follow-up reports claimed that Ewan McGregor, Matthew McConaughey, and Chris Pine were also in contention, with Pine expected to get the offer if Brolin passed.
We don't know if Pine is next in line or not, but the trade has heard that McConaughey is definitely not in the mix.
Fans seemed to be somewhat divided on Brolin (56) potentially taking on this role, anyway, primarily due to the Dune star's age. McGregor and McConaughey are only slightly younger at 53 and 54, respectively, but Pine is 44.

Earlier this week, we brought you the official synopses for Superman & Lois' upcoming two-part premiere. Now, that's been followed by a synopsis for the entire fourth season!
This one sheds more light on Lex Luthor's twisted master plan and what we can expect from supporting characters like John Henry Irons, Chrissy Beppo, and Kyle Cushing. As for the Man of Steel himself, all we learn here is that he's "locked in a ferocious, moon-wrecking battle" with Doomsday.
If The CW is planning to adapt the Death and Resurrection of Superman from the comics, we're not exactly shocked his role in this fourth and final season is being kept under wraps.
Here's the full Superman & Lois season 4 synopsis:

We recently learned that Superman & Lois will return for its fourth and final season a little sooner than expected on October 7 and The CW has just shared the official descriptions for the two-part premiere.
The first is titled "The End & The Beginning" and teases, "Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) is locked in a brutal battle with Luthor’s monster; Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and the boys race against time to save General Lane (Dylan Walsh). Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Brent Fletcher & Todd Helbing."
The second episode is going to be called "A World Without" but this synopsis understandably offers no real insights into the outcome of the Man of Steel's battle with Doomsday.
However, it sounds like Lex Luthor is still on the loose and about to enact his twisted plan for Smallville. "Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and Sarah (Inde Navarrette) join the fight against Luthor (Michael Cudlitz), who starts making moves in Smallville.

Throughout its run, the Arrowverse amounted to a total of 699 episodes, which aired across 37 seasons of television, ranging from good to bad and sometimes ugly in terms of quality. Similar was the case with the superhero suits, as while we had some gems with Deathstroke and Flash’s outfits, there were also a healthy number of suits, which didn’t translate well onscreen.

Following recent reports that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Lanterns HBO series, we have word on two other A-list actors who may also be in contention to play the legendary ring-slinging hero.
According to Jeff Sneider, both Ewan McGregor and Matthew McConaughey are on DC Studios' radar, and will be offered the part in the event that Brolin declines.
Sneider also mentions that the series is "modelled after True Detective."
Fans appear to be somewhat divided on Brolin (56) potentially suiting-up as Jordan, primarily due to the Dune star's age. But McGregor and McConaughey are only slightly younger at 53 and 54, respectively, so the show is clearly set to introduce an older take on this character and that's all there is to it.
Emmy Award-winning Lost and Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof is working on the pilot script along with Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy and comic book writer Tom King.

Greg Berlanti was responsible for the sprawling superhero universe that was created over at CW. While the producer did not have access to heavy hitters in the Justice League like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, Berlanti was successful in carving out a universe that was as rich as it was diverse, with characters like The Flash, Supergirl, and Green Arrow.

Berlanti talked to IndieWire about how making these shows trained him for his next venture in CW’s superhero sandbox, which, during the interview, was Black Lightning. Given that the producer prepared a lot for Black Lightning, it was ironic that it became one of the worst-performing shows in CW’s superhero lineup.

The Flash was a spin-off of the 2012 show, Arrow and a part of the same fictional universe, called the Arrowverse. The show premiered on 7 October 2014 and ran for nine seasons until 24 May 2023. It received a positive response from the audience and even won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama in 2014.
Most fans don’t know that it was originally supposed to be a backdoor pilot, but Grant Gustin’s positive reception by the audience sealed the deal. The actor appeared twice on Arrow and his portrayal of Barry Allen won the audience over. Another aspect that got him the role was Gustin’s chemistry with actress Emily Bett Rickards aka, Felicity. The creators wanted to explore the pair and their possible romance inspired an entire show.

The DC Universe is currently preparing for its relaunch. Under DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran, the movie series will start over, kickstarting a brand new chapter in the history of DC characters on the big screen and the small screen. The franchise officially launches with animated series Creature Commandos whenever it debuts in winter of this year, before Gunn's own-directed Superman brings in the mainstream audiences in July next year.
Gunn and Safran are no strangers to both the superhero and the DC genre. The latter has been involved in a number of DC productions while the former is best known for his critically-acclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for Marvel Studios (he also directed DC's The Suicide Squad).
Gunn has also teased fans with the possibility of seeing a number of Marvel stars appear in his DC productions going forward. While fans were initially expecting a...

Yesterday, two separate sources reported that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in DC Studios' upcoming HBO series, Lanterns, and we now have an update on the age-range of the actors being looked at to play John Stewart - as well as a couple of up-and-coming stars who might just be in contention.
Fans appear to be somewhat divided on Brolin (56) potentially suiting-up as Jordan, but it seems the studio is looking for a "much younger" actor to play the less experienced ring-slinging hero he takes under his wing.
According to Jeff Sneider, someone younger than 30 (or at least able to play younger than 30) is being sought.
Fans have noticed that comic book writer Tom King - who is working on the show - has started following both Damson Idris (Snowfall) and Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) on social media, leading to speculation that they might be...

We had heard that a "noteworthy name" was being sought to play veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the upcoming Dcu Lanterns series, and a new rumor is claiming that the studio has set its sights on a former MCU actor for the role.
According to Nexus Point News - who have broken some pretty big DC-related scoops over the past few weeks - Josh Brolin has been offered the part, though the site notes that he hasn't actually entered talks and might well decline.
Brolin is no stranger to the Cbm/superhero genre, having played Thanos in the Infinity Saga and Cable in Deadpool 2. He has also technically played a DC character in the much-maligned Jonah Hex movie.
Casting is also underway for a Black actor between 27–35 years old to play John Stewart, the younger Lantern Jordan takes under his wing.

The Dead Boy Detectives have been sent to the afterlife prematurely.
Despite positive reviews (92% on Rotten Tomatoes) and strong viewership (at least initially), Variety reports that Netflix's supernatural mystery series has been cancelled after just a single season.
The show - which is set in the same universe as The Sandman - got off to a strong start, managing to stay in the Netflix Top 10 English TV charts for three weeks after its release. It racked-up just 3.1 million views in its first three days of availability (Netflix defines a view as total series runtime divided by total hours viewed) before climbing to 4.7 million. It then dropped to just 1.8 million views in week three before falling off the Top 10 chart.

Case closed, whether you like it or not. Variety reports that Dead Boy Detectives has been cancelled by Netflix after just one season.
Based on characters created by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, Dead Boy Detectives follows Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), two teen ghosts who work alongside a clairvoyant (Kassius Nelson) to solve mysteries for their supernatural clientele — until a powerful witch complicates their plans. The series takes place in the same universe as The Sandman, which was renewed for a second season. Steve Yockey developed Dead Boy Detectives and served as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Beth Schwartz. Greg Berlanti, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Gaiman also served as executive producers of the series.

There will be no second season for Dead Boy Detectives. Netflix has canceled the series after one season, sources confirm to Deadline.
The first season, which dropped on April 25, will now be the final season for the show, which was originally set up at Max.
Based on the comics of the same name by Neil Gaiman and part of The Sandman Universe, Dead Boy Detectives followed Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), “the brains” and “the brawn” behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency. Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts… who solve mysteries.
They will do anything to stick together – including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.

Netflix has taken Dead Boy Detectives off the case.
The series, set in the same fictional universe as The Sandman, won’t return for a second season. The news comes about four months after the show’s eight-episode season premiered on Netflix.
Dead Boy Detectives, from Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions, took a winding road to its Netflix debut. It was originally set up at Max, which ordered a pilot for the show in 2021 and gave it a series order a year later. Amid a shake-up at Warner Bros. and DC (the show is based on characters from comics by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner), however, the series moved to Netflix in February 2023 and finally premiered 14 months later.
The series, starring George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri as the title characters, earned largely positive reviews; The Hollywood Reporter critic Angie Han said Dead Boy Detectives is “never less than entertaining,...

“Dead Boy Detectives” has been canceled at Netflix. The series aired its one and only season at the streamer on April 25.
Thus ends the show’s twisty path to the screen. It originally got a pilot order at Max in 2021 and then a series order at that streamer in 2022 before it was sold to Netflix in 2023. It was reported at the time that the sale took place because the show, which is based on characters created for DC by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, did not fit with the new direction for Max-dc content being spearheaded by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
At Netflix, it was a part of the “Sandman” universe, as the Dead Boy Detectives were first introduced in an issue of “The Sandman” comic book. Netflix currently airs “The Sandman” TV series, with a second season on the way.

The CW has confirmed today that the fourth and final season of Supergirl & Lois will premiere sooner than expected.
In response to ABC creating an 8 pm - 10 pm game show block on Mondays for Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune and Press Your Luck, The Wranglers is moving from Thursday to Monday, swapping nights with Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit.
With Tuesdays and Fridays spoken for thanks to WWE Nxt and Inside The NFL, the only choice was to move Superman & Lois, meaning it's now set to debut on Monday, October 7 instead of October 17.
Don't worry, though, because we're still getting the originally scheduled two-hour premiere. Superman & Lois will then continue to air on Mondays at 8 pm for the duration of its final season.
The CW's President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz has taken the network in a vastly different direction since it was home to the Arrowverse and shows like Supernatural and Riverdale.

Greg Berlanti will receive the 2024 Governors Award, the Television Academy announced on Thursday. The award, which he will take home at the 76th Emmy Awards on Sept. 15, is in recognition of his contributions to television since he got his start as a staff writer on “Dawson’s Creek” in 1998.
Among the 45 TV series that Berlanti has since created, written or exec-produced (or some combination of all three) are “Brothers and Sisters,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Arrow,” “Blindspot,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Everwood,” “You,” “Titans,” “Riverdale,” “Doom Patrol,” “All American” and “Found.” His work often centers members of the LGBTQ+ community. “Dawson’s Creek” featured the first same-sex kiss between two men on American network television, for instance, and his fall NBC series “Brilliant Minds” has the first single gay lead in an American medical drama.
One of his more recent projects, “Red, White and Royal Blue,” earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Television Movie in July.

Back in the 1890s, writer Oscar Wilde brought the world a story called The Picture of Dorian Gray – and now the Netflix streaming service has announced that they’re teaming up with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television on a new TV series called The Grays, which ComicBook.com hears will be “a contemporary take on the Oscar Wilde classic about our fascination with eternal youth set against the backdrop of the modern beauty industry.“
The Picture of Dorian Gray has the following description: Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world.

Netflix is in the process of adapting “The Picture of Dorian Gray” into a modern TV series, TheWrap has learned.
The show, titled “The Grays,” will be produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with “The Girls on the Bus” showrunner and EP Rina Mimoun serving as showrunner and executive producer, according to an individual with knowledge. Katie Rose Rogers will write the series.
As the team modernizes the Oscar Wilde novel, the series will center on siblings Basil and Dorian Gray as “The Grays” tackles the classic’s themes through the eyes of the modern beauty industry, according to Deadline, who first reported the news.
Representatives for Warner Bros. Television and Netflix declined to comment.
Mimoun and Rogers will executive produce the series alongside Rogers’ brother, Robbie Rogers, with whom she worked on “Fellow Travelers” and who has served as a producer on “All American” and an EP on “All American: Homecoming.

“Fly Me to the Moon” is a movie directed by Greg Berlanti starring Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum and Woody Harrelson.
Set against the backdrop of the 1960s, a period defined by the fierce competition between Russia and the United States to be the first to land a man on the moon, “Fly Me to the Moon” introduces us to a different kind of race. While the world was captivated by the technological rivalry that culminated in the Apollo 11 mission, a parallel contest of marketing and advertising prowess was unfolding, each side vying to capture the public’s imagination.
However, “Fly Me to the Moon” does not recount the tale of the Apollo 11 mission itself. Instead, it focuses on an extraordinary woman who transformed this historical event into a media sensation through her expertise in advertising and marketing. Her arsenal of persuasive tactics succeeded in amplifying the mission’s significance, extending...
