I honestly haven't had to use this yet. But knew it would be a good idea to have this to go along with my son's alto sax. In the sax review a customer had an issue, and had purchased this protection and she said that she was happy she made the decision to get it because she was able to get her issues taken care of. Should I ever have to use this protection plan, I will certainly update my review.
I bought a Akai EWI Solo (an electronic wind instrument), with an Asurion insurance policy. The instrument failed and I received the full purchase price. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and polite.
The only negatives: 1) the web site's view claim status feature was never up-to-date, calling was the only effective way to stay current; 2) it took 7 weeks to process: I sent the instrument to their repair center with 8 videos, with audio, showing several kinds of failure. It took returning it twice, before the claim was fulfilled. I do understand that they have to assess whether products did truly fail and if they could be repaired. So, #2 may simply reflect my impatience.

Overall good experience. My claim has been handled well and the coverage is what is supposed to be. However the process is a little bit unusual, after filing a claim you end up with no claim number, they also ask you to provide proof of purchase of the insurance, kinda bizarre after identifying yourself and providing a insurance #. I would buy it again, I am satisfied with the product
