One thing that fascinates me on Wikipedia is to read through the archives during the hours leading up to and during a major event. I like to see the calm before the storm and identify the first moment when someone broke the news. I did that with Benoit's page and discovered the now famous 12:01(Eastern Time) message posted more than a dozen hours before the Benoit bodies were discovered.

Because of my discovery, the adminstration at Wikipedia and Wikinews began investigations of the post, calling police and seeking information on the mysterious editor.
Wikinews picked up the story and produced a full article based on my discovery. Fox took it from Wikinews and then the other major outlets followed. Wikinews gave me the accomodation to the right for my efforts and an editor here at Wikipedia gave me The Surreal Barnster.
A few days later, I heard from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. He said:
''You did a good job. It was excellent that you did the first research to find the now famous 12:01AM (eastern time) edit to the Chris Benoit entry, and I am really glad that you posted to the discussion page of the article about it. I am also glad for those who followed up by researching the location of the ip number.'' [[Jimbo Wales]] 13:16, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Amazon.com Reviews

At one time, I was a top 2000 reviewer on amazon.com. My rating has slipped a bit in recent years because I have not had the time to write reviews like I did in the past. You can read my reviews here.

Sopranos Episode Guides I started

I wrote the first episode guide on Wikipedia for The Sopranos. Once I wrote the first one, other people joined me and began filling out the entire series. In addition to the following pages I created, I've contributed something to almost every episode.

Season 1

Season 2

Season 4

Season 5

Season 6A

A Thank You from the Founder of Wikipedia

On June 28th and 29th, Wikipedia was mentioned by nearly every major news outlet (Yahoo, CNN, MSNBC, ESPN, etc) because of the Chris Benoit story. Someone on Wikipedia spotted an entry on Chris Benoit's webpage announcing the death of his wife 14 hours before her body was found. That someone drew attention to the post and got the ball rolling on what ended up being the biggest wikipedia-related news story ever. That someone is me. Here's how it happened...

I posted on Benoit's talk page what is the first mention of the eerie post anywhere on the internet or in the media. See it here. He said: You did a good job. It was excellent that you did the first research to find the now famous 12:01AM (eastern time) edit to the Chris Benoit entry, and I am really glad that you posted to the discussion page of the article about it. I am also glad for those who followed up by researching the location of the ip number. Jimbo Wales 13:16, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

I, Brianmc Award you this Wikinews trophy for being diligent enough to spot an oddity in an edit that has made major news and given Wikinews and Wikipedia a great deal of publicity.
