Senator, previously Novice, Hame was a member of the Sisters of Plenitude on the planet New Earth.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Hame was born in a refugee camp during the Mechanical Wars, the youngest of a litter of sixteen. At one point, her mother and father sold her to the Sisters of Plenitude for 10 shillings. With this money, the rest of her family could afford a shuttle out of Restitution.

The Sisters brought Hame to New Earth, where she was given her name, after the Cat God of Harvest. She became Novice Hame at age 13, when she was taken into the order. (WC: The Secret of Novice Hame [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who: Lockdown! (2020).)

New New York Hospital[]

In 5,000,000,023, Novice Hame was tending to the Face of Boe in Ward 26 of the New New York Hospital. She kept him company and maintained the smoke inside his tank while he slept; on occasion, she would sometimes hear him singing ancient songs in her mind. She befriended the Tenth Doctor when he came to visit the Face of Boe, and told him the legend of the Face's final secret, which he would speak only to a "Lonely God" like himself.

Hame later discovered the Doctor and Rose Tyler in the hospital's Intensive Care unit. The Doctor was appalled at the Sisterhood using a plague-farm of artificially-grown humans as research experiments for their many cures, but Hame defended the actions of her order as necessary in order to cope with the massive influx of diseases that had come in the wake of humanity's colonisation of New Earth. However, Rose's body was revealed to be possessed by Cassandra O'Brien at the time, and she knocked the Doctor unconscious with a narcotic perfume spray before sending Hame to summon her colleagues Matron Casp and Sister Jatt.

Hame returned to her duties in Ward 26, and remained there for the duration of the crisis that unfolded as the infected test subjects were released from Intensive Care and swarmed the rest of the hospital. When the Doctor returned to Ward 26, she helped gather the intravenous solutions he would use to ultimately cure the diseased of their afflictions. In the aftermath, Hame was arrested by the New New York Police Department along with the surviving members of her order as conspirators in secretly breeding "the Flesh". Punishment and redemption[]

Subsequently, Hame was ordered to look after the Face of Boe as a punishment for the crimes she had committed as one of the Sisters of Plenitude. Hame, unlike her unfortunate sisterhood, promptly reformed herself. During this time, she grew fond of the Face of Boe and actively sought to redeem herself for her actions.

When the airborne Bliss virus killed the New Earth Senate and most of the planet's population, Hame was saved by the Face of Boe, who used his smoke to shield and protect her. She then aided the Face in sealing off the Undercity of New New York, saving those on the Motorway and in the streets.

When the Tenth Doctor returned to New Earth thirty years after his first visit and Hame's subsequent arrest, the Face of Boe sent Hame to find him. She found him deep in the Motorway whilst he was looking for Martha Jones. They teleported to the New New York Senate so the Doctor could help the Face of Boe free the motorists stuck in the undercity. Doing this, however, cost the Face of Boe his life. Hame was with him as he died, breaking down in tears as the Face drew his final breath. The Doctor was sure that Hame had actually reformed and told Martha Jones that the city will "have Novice Hame" to help them adjust to life in the overcity, assuming she would now have a larger role in the governance of New New York and/or the planet. Later life[]

In time, Senator Hame became a Vice President. Later in life, she held the title of Feline Imperator of the New Earth Order.

At one point, after beginning to question if their perfect Earth-like planet had been a trap, she discovered a secret regarding New Earth, beneath the planet's surface. She told no one.

The Tenth Doctor located Hame's parents and sent them to find her. They asked for forgiveness, but Hame assured them there was nothing to forgive. (WC: The Secret of Novice Hame [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who: Lockdown! (2020).)

Death[]

On the last day of her life, the people of New Earth built Novice Hame a bower on the clifftops, overlooking the New Atlantic. On her deathbed, she reunited with the Tenth Doctor, near the end of his own life, and swapped stories with him. Her final words were, "I wonder...".

Just beyond her death, Hame believed that she was still talking to the Doctor. From her point-of-view, she began telling him about the great secret of New Earth, which she had uncovered. She experienced the Doctor place two gold coins upon her eyes, so that she might pay for her journey to the Great Cat Kingdom described by her religion.
