An Imperial Guard Dalek was among those who served the Dalek Emperor who survived the Last Great Time War in his ship.
Characteristics[]
This Dalek was distinguished among the Emperor's Personal Guard in that its bronze-type casing sported a black base unit in addition to a black dome, but with a bronze weapons platform. (TV: The Parting of the Ways) In this sense it appeared like the earlier Black Dalek Leader who oversaw the silver Daleks, (TV: The Chase, The Daleks' Master Plan) rather than the Dalek Inquisitor General, black but for his gold slats and sense globes, (PROSE: Prisoner of the Daleks) or contemporary Black Daleks such as Dalek Sec, whose casing included black slats and sense globes. (TV: Army of Ghosts, COMIC: The Dalek Project) The Time Lords identified this model of Dalek in the Emperor's "retinue", wielding a standard suction cup manipulator arm. (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual)
Biography[]
A day to come[]
Through the Matrix's projections of the post-Time War universe, the Time Lords became aware that the Emperor would survive the Time War and create a new army of Dalek of human origin. The Emperor was served by a retinue of "guard drones", with the Time Lords identifying this Dalek model as part of this "retinue". (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual)
Activity[]
This Dalek was present in close proximity to the Emperor aboard the Dalek Flagship in the year 200,100, when the Emperor waged an invasion of Earth. This invasion was ended when the Emperor and his fleet were completely wiped out by the Bad Wolf entity. (TV: The Parting of the Ways)
Behind the scenes[]
- A figurine of this Imperial Guard Dalek was released with the fifth "Rare Dalek" issue of Doctor Who: Figurine Collection.
- This Dalek was represented by a Battles in Time trading card entitled "Dalek (with buzz-saw weapon)".
- As a valid source, the Dalek Combat Training Manual gave a closer look at this Dalek model but depicted it with a standard suction cup rather than a buzz-saw.
