Bashir holding the jacket of his suit

A suit or business suit was a piece of clothing mostly worn by Humans, such as businessmen during the 20th century. It included a jacket and matching trousers.

In 2364, when Jean-Luc Picard first entered his Dixon Hill holonovel, based in the year 1941, he was still wearing his Starfleet uniform. Madeline, his secretary, observing the unusual attire, asked him if he lost another bet. Seeing that he was unsure of what she was referring to, she pointed out the uniform, describing it as a "bellboy suit." Later, Jessica Bradley told Picard/Hill to "next time, wear a suit." (TNG: "The Big Goodbye") Similarly, Rain Robinson referred to The Doctor who was wearing his Starfleet uniform as "Mister Leisure Suit". (VOY: "Future's End, Part II")

Burt Ryan and Kevin Mulkahey gave Benny Russell a hard time about his suit. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")

In 1968, James T. Kirk described Gary Seven's attire in his captain's log as a business suit. (TOS: "Assignment: Earth")

In 2369, the Cardassian tailor Garak contacted Doctor Julian Bashir and told him he had to buy a new suit from him on that evening at a specific time. After a conversation with Commander Benjamin Sisko, Bashir went to the Garak's Clothiers and was welcomed by Garak, who gave him a grey suit and sent him into a changing room. Though Bashir was initially confused by the tailor's insistence, the reason became clear when Bashir was able to witness a conversation between the Cardassian and the Klingon Duras sisters, Lursa and B'Etor, without being noticed by the latter. (DS9: "Past Prologue")

The Hunters from the Gamma Quadrant wore special combat suits during their hunt for a Tosk. (DS9: "Captive Pursuit")

In 2369, Quark offered to sell Odo a suit made from Andorian silk to intrigue him into the need for possessions. (DS9: "Q-Less")

The forty-seventh Rule of Acquisition stated "don't trust a man wearing a better suit than your own." (DS9: "Rivals")
