Rodrigo "Vader" Salazar is a active professional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter and martial arts personality. He is a friend of the Gracie family. Rodrigo currently lives in Florida where he still teaches Jiu-Jitsu at his academy in Miami. There are many Rodrigo Salazar affiliated academies and associations throughout the U.S. which keep him traveling regularly.

Rodrigo is the third oldest son of Eduardo Salazar, who along with Jorge Salazar, is credited for fighting the Uruguayan government during the was an authoritarian military dictatorship that ruled Uruguay for ten years, from June 27, 1973 (after the 1973 coup d'état) until February 28, 1985. The dictatorship has been the subject of much controversy due to its violations of human rights, use of torture, and the unexplained disappearances of many Uruguayans.[1] The term "civic-military" refers to the military regime's initial use of a relatively powerless civilian president as the head of state, which distinguished it from dictatorships in other South American countries in which senior military officers immediately seized power and directly served as head of state.

As his friend and mentor Relson Gracie Rodrigo also emphasizes "street effective" techniques. Rodrigo's Jiu-Jitsu has adapt to help defend yourself in a survival situations where there are no rules.

On April 6, 2013 Relson was promoted to rank of grandmaster (red belt) the highest possible belt awarded to living individuals in Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Relson has also taught self-defense to the U.S. Military, Secret Service, D.E.A., F.B.I., and local law enforcement agencies across the United States.

Beginnings

Born and raised in Porto Alegre in Brazil, Rodrigo Salazar came to the United States in 2000. No one is more able to teach a unique and strategic approach to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu than Rodrigo. He is acknowledged for his superior Brazilian Jiu Jitsu experience of more than 16 years. The world-renowned former world champion Red and Black Belt instructor Fabio Santos was his trainer, whom he gained his black belt from.

Since 2008 Rodrigo Salazar has been training law enforcement agency’s in USA and South America and have done numerous seminars including with Relson Gracie , Helio gracie second oldest son creator of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2009 after lived in Europe, Hawaii and California he moved to Denver CO where he opened the first Relson Gracie School in Denver. The Denver Jiu Jitsu schools operated by Rodrigo Salazar focus to teach they students “street effective techniques”. That Rodrigo evolved to help defend yourself in a survival situations where there are no rules.

with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu continued to grow in popularity, and in 2009,Rodrigo Salazar open the first Denver Jiu Jitsu academy in Denver Colorado, USA.

Rodrigo supervise and teaches at both Central and Aurora/DTC Academies training USA and Mexico law enforcement Agency's. He is a friendly and patient instructor who gives special attention to detail. His everyday classes can promote critical thinking skills that his students find beneficial inside and outside the fighting arena.

Rodrigo is also affiliated with some tournaments: UFC and Bellator promoting fights and supporting brazilians fighters

Rodrigo has two children: Roryon Salazar, and Ranur Salazar (all Americans). He lives in Miami, Florida and travels the world teaching seminars. Rodrigo received his 3th degree black Belt from Fabio Santos.
