Solar dryers are devises that use solar energy to dry substances. in fact solar energy has long been humans to dry things. Almost in all places people hang out their washed we clothes in the Sun for them to dry. In countries like India people keep muslin covered pickle jars n hot Sun for the water to evaporate and for the concentration pickle juice. When there is less water in pickle, there is less chance f microbes, bacteria and moulds growing on them. Hence Drying helps preservation.

Solar dryers can be classified into two broad categories. they are Direct Dryers and Indirect Dryers.

Direct Solar Dryers

Direct solar dryers are those machines that expose the substance to be dehydrated or dried to direct sunlight. They have a black absorbing surface which collects sun light and converts them to heat, the substance that needs to be dried are placed directly on the surface for them to be dried. The direct solar driers may have enclosure, glass covers and vents to make the process of drying really efficient.

Indirect Solar Dryers
