Ado local government area of benue state was created in 1991. it is bounded by anambra state on the south, it is one of the first areas in idoma that had contact with the missionaries, hence it enjoys the advantage of having the first missionary school in the idoma area.it is one of the 9 local government areas in the southern senatorial zone which is majorly occupied by the idoma people of Benue State.
