ESCO Corporation
ESCO Corporation www.escocorp.com manufactures engineered metal wearparts and components for mining, construction, power generation and aerospace applications. The company employs lean manufacturing and "continuous improvement" practices (similar to the Toyota manufacturing model) to eliminate waste and reduce costs. Since 1913, the privately held company has been headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA, and has more than 25 manufacturing sites throughout the world.
The company has two divisions: Engineered Products and Turbine Technologies. The Engineered Products Group produces metal wearparts, ground engaging tools (GET), components and earthmoving products used in global mining, construction, conveying, rigging, dredging and other industrial applications. The Turbine Technologies Group produces hot gas path (HGP) components for aerospace and power generation applications – including directionally solidified (DS), single crystal (SC) and equiaxed blades, nozzles, vanes and structural castings. ESCO Turbine Technologies also provides and manages such post-cast processes as machining, grinding and stem drilling.

Brief History of ESCO Corporation
Due to the limited availability of replacement parts for his trolley line, in 1913, Portland, Oregon businessman Charles (C.F.) Swigert decided to create his own local source of steel castings and established the Electric Steel Foundry Company – now ESCO. The foundry used a modern furnace that was fired by electricity rather than coke. Within a few years, Swigert’s business expanded to include proprietary products for the Pacific Northwest logging industry, and company engineers also designed and patented several steel wearparts for various industrial machinery.
