DYK for Track 61
On 5 January 2014, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Track 61, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Track 61, which previously carried freight to the South Boston Army Base and South Boston Naval Annex, is the proposed location of a new passenger train service? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Track 61. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

your DYK review of Aeroflot Flight 3519
Hi Kevin. I was just scrolling the DYK nominations and saw DYK Aeroflot Flight 3519 where it looked like you completed a review on Dec 26th. There is no green check mark tic next to it. If you meant that review was correct, maybe you could tick it so it will be promoted. — Maile (talk) 22:55, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- Oops! I have gone ahead and fixed it right now, so sorry about that! Kevin Rutherford (talk) 23:55, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
What was the point of this edit? Are you planning on writing all two-dozen Rochester subway station articles? (Also note that I changed the page links to the more common form of “Xxx subway station”.) Useddenim (talk) 01:36, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. Also, I am also going to revert that edit and make some parenthetical revisions, as that is more common in the Northeast. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 01:47, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- I think “(RS station)” is too cryptic, and would suggest “(Rochester)” instead, if you’re going to insist on not following the rest of the world. Useddenim (talk) 01:54, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Also, using “Xxx subway station” allows the use of a standard template. Useddenim (talk) 01:57, 7 January 2014 (UTC)- That was actually one of the fixes that I implemented before you edited that template, but I also wanted to go with the parenthetical approach since a lot of the stations had some pretty common names, when compared to other stations in the world. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 18:26, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Cut ‘n’ pasting the same two sentences over and over again is not writing an article, it’s just a lazy way of inflating your page creation count. (Also, Highland, Ashbourne & Elmwood were the only stations with 2 tracks; all the others had three or more. All stations except General Motors, East Avenue and Rowlands had an island platform. Canal Boats, Interurbans & Trolleys: The Story of the Rochester Subway has a detailed track map opposite p. 128.) Useddenim (talk) 17:01, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- I do plan on going back and expanding and correcting them a bit tonight, but not having that book certainly does put a damper on some of the expansion as I am limited to online resources. I just wanted to get them all out there and I ran into the issue of having two different maps say that they went by differing names, so that led to some confusion initially. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 18:26, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- Pages 45–93 of Ninety Four Years of Rochester Railways (which I added to References) also covers the subway. And—although I can’t find it off the top of my head—I’m sure there’s something somewhere in WP:MOS that says the station name in the {{Infobox}} shouldn't be in ALL CAPS. Useddenim (talk) 13:29, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- I was actually following what was done in Boston, but feel free to change it. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 17:45, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- The usual preference is go with the local style. MBTA signage uses centered all-caps on the line color so that's what MBTA articles use; Metro-North uses left-justified standard capitalization so that's what the articles use. Without any available images of station signage, centered with standard capitalization is a reasonable way to go. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 17:51, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

But you've got to add some content. Repetition of that one sentence does not really make a series of articles. Where is each station located? What makes it unique? Does the structure still exist? Was it filled in? Do I need to go on? You should have done some research before you dumped this stuff. I am helping with this, although you have all been a little lazy. Signage style! Platforms! Let's have some real content. Secondarywaltz (talk) 04:27, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- I never said that I was done, as I only added the platform information. I have gotten someone in Rochester who is willing to snap photos for us, but I initially held off on street information since I didn't know on what side of the street the platforms were on. I did find an online source from 1948 that is useful, so I plan on using that once I decide to put some time into expansion. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 04:36, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- Good! I'm working with you on this. Have you tried Category:Wikipedians in Rochester, New York for help? Should we use old photographs under "fair use" since almost everything is gone? Secondarywaltz (talk) 04:44, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- I actually used the Education Program's internal pages, as I figured there might be someone at one of the schools there, and I discovered the professor who I mentioned there. She is interested in helping, and is willing to go snap some photos once the weather improves (so, April). We could use them as fair use (as I suspect some of the websites are already doing so), but I also noticed that the Rochester Wiki page for the subway has images we could migrate over here and someone should do outreach on this Flickr feed and see if we can get a few images on our site, as there are some stations in there. Wiki-PR edit warring
I do not know your "position" on Wiki-PR, so this is not a canvassing attempt. I would just like more eyes on the edit dispute taking place here and specifically here. I get the feeling that (as usual) Smallbones and Coretheapple are tag-teaming to keep a particular "revenge" POV in Wikipedia about paid editing, to the detriment of a wider NPOV perspective. Do your own analysis of the situation, and please weigh in on whatever side your conscience dictates. - I'm not that crazy (talk) 13:59, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

The article Clinton (RIRTR station) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No evidence that this station was ever proposed. Reference given does not mention it. Not notable enough to warrant an article, even if referenced.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Secondarywaltz (talk) 00:27, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Boston Latin Academy may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
- List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
