Abstract: In this paper, we have considered the exponentiated Pareto type I distribution. Various structural properties of the exponentiated Pareto type I distribution (such as quantile function, moments, incomplete moments, conditional moments, mean deviation about mean and median, stochastic ordering, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves, Renyi entropy and order statistics) are derived. We establish explicit expressions and recurrence relations for single and product moments of record values from exponentiated Pareto type I distribution. These recurrence relations enable computations of the means, variances and covariances of all record values for all sample sizes in a simple and effcient manner. By using these relations, …we tabulate the first four moments and variances of record values. The maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters cannot be obtained in explicit forms, and they have to be obtained by solving non-linear equations only. The asymptotic confidence intervals for the parameters are also obtained based on asymptotic variance covariance matrix. Abstract: In this paper, an attempt has been made to study the estimation of finite population variance in simple random sampling without replacement (SRSWOR) in presence of non-response by proposing two estimators. The two estimators (dual to ratio and ratio cum dual to ratio type) have been proposed on the basis of availability and non-availability of auxiliary information. The properties such as bias and mean square error of the proposed estimators have also been studied up to first order of approximation. The proposed estimators are compared with some existing estimators and are also mutually compared. An empirical study, based on both …vegetable crop data and simulated data, has been performed to find out the best estimator. Abstract: BACKGROUND: Persistent infection of high-risk HPVs is known to cause diverse carcinomas, mainly cervical, oropharyngeal, penile, etc. However, efficient treatment is still lacking. OBJECTIVE: Identify and analyze potential therapeutic targets involved in HPV oncogenesis and repurposing drug candidates. METHODS: Integrative analyses were performed on the compendium of 1887 HPV infection-associated or integration-driven disrupted genes cataloged from the Open Targets Platform and HPVbase resource. Potential target genes are prioritized using STRING, Cytoscape, cytoHubba, and MCODE. Gene ontology and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis are performed. Further, TCGA cancer genomic data of CESC and HNSCC is analyzed. Moreover, regulatory networks are also deduced …by employing NetworkAnalyst. RESULTS: We have implemented a unique approach for identifying and prioritizing druggable targets and repurposing drug candidates against HPV oncogenesis. Overall, hundred key genes with 44 core targets were prioritized with transcription factors (TFs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) regulators pertinent to HPV pathogenesis. Genomic alteration profiling further substantiated our findings. Among identified druggable targets, TP53 , NOTCH1 , PIK3CA , EP300 , CREBBP , EGFR , ERBB2 , PTEN , and FN1 are frequently mutated in CESC and HNSCC. Furthermore, PIK3CA , CCND1 , RFC4 , KAT5 , MYC , PTK2 , EGFR , and ERBB2 show significant copy number gain, and FN1 , CHEK1 , CUL1 , EZH2 , NRAS , and H2AFX was marked for the substantial copy number loss in both carcinomas. Likewise, under-explored relevant regulators, i.e., TFs (HINFP, ARID3A, NFATC2, NKX3-2, EN1) and miRNAs (has-mir-98-5p, has-mir-24-3p, has-mir-192-5p, has-mir-519d-3p) is also identified. CONCLUSIONS: We have identified potential therapeutic targets, transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulators to explicate HPV pathogenesis as well as potential repurposing drug candidates. Abstract: With the advancements in cognitive radio network procedures, such as blind sensing, sensing transmission trade-off, energy aware protocols etc, effectively overcomes the power constraint issues of CBAN. In present work, such primary issues have been addressed with the help of look-up table incorporated with energy harvesting (EH). It delivers maximum achievable throughput with minimum energy consumption to obtain self-sustainable pervasive wireless networks. The experimental work has been carried out in three different scenarios (Echelon 1, 2 and 3). The key components such as look-up table and energy harvesting have also been investigated on different system parameters (like energy consumption, normalized throughput, …saved and residual energy). The simulation is done with NS-2 and results are shown in Matlab for clarity. Results depict that proposed model consumes less energy and also provides a better normalised achievable throughput as compared to the conventional model. Show more

Abstract:  The users of mobile phone are exponentially increasing. The applications are developed every day in a variety of domains to enhance the Quality of User Experience (QoUE) along with utility determinants. The design of the mobile application impacts the QoUE. QoUE in mobile applications is a measure that describes the appropriateness of the purpose of the application and the need for user retention. However, the challenge is to identify, understand, focus and interconnect the variety of determinants influencing the QoUE based on mobile application design. These determinants are based on the diversity of users and the related functional needs, user-specific …needs, and background functioning of the application. The modelling and analysis help mobile application developers to improve, increase and retain user engagement on the app based on improved QoUE. To do so, a qualitative analytical method is employed in the following steps. The first ever Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM) is proposed to show the causal-effect links of the interdependent determinants in mobile applications based on QoUE. In our model, the existence of relationships between determinants relies on a thorough literature review. The weight of these links is estimated by users of different ages and lines of work. This is performed by an empirical study based on a questionnaire filled by experts. The questionnaire is based on the formal utility and perceived QoUE-based topics. Finally, scenario-based analysis on formed FCM based on these inputs is performed. We show that small changes in cases using different direct determinants can be used to enhance QoUE. These changes can be studied before launching an application for the user, thereby limiting the need to rework the improvements based on QoUE and providing useful guidance for the possible increase in user base and behaviour change. Abstract: Parameters related to earthquake origins can be broken down into two broad classes: source location and source dimension. Scientists use distance curves versus average slowness to approximate the epicentre of an earthquake. The shape of curves is the complex function to the epicentral distance, the geological structures of Earth, and the path taken by seismic waves. Brune’s model for source is fitted to the measured seismic wave’s displacement spectrum in order to estimate the source’s size by optimising spectral parameters. The use of ANFIS to determine earthquake magnitude has the potential to significantly alter the playing field. ANFIS can learn …like a person using only the data that has already been collected, which improves predictions without requiring elaborate infrastructure. For this investigation’s FIS development, we used a machine with Python 3x running on a core i5 from the 11th generation and an NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3050ti GPU processor. Moreover, the research demonstrates that presuming a large number of inputs to the membership function is not necessarily the best option. The quality of inferences generated from data might vary greatly depending on how that data is organised. Subtractive clustering, which does not necessitate any type of normalisation, can be used for prediction of earthquakes magnitude with a high degree of accuracy. This study has the potential to improve our ability to foresee quakes larger than magnitude 5. A solution is not promised to the practitioner, but the research is expected to lead in the right direction. Using Brune’s source model and high cut-off frequency factor, this article suggests using machine learning techniques and a Brune Based Application (BBA) in Python. Application accept input in the Sesame American Standard Code for Information Interchange Format (SAF). An application calculates the spectral level of low frequency displacement (Ω0 ), the corner frequency at which spectrum decays with a rate of 2(fc ), the cut-off frequency at which spectrum again decays (fmax ), and the rate of decay above fmax on its own (N ). Seismic moment, stress drop, source dimension, etc. have all been estimated using spectral characteristics, and scaling laws. As with the maximum frequency, fmax, its origin can be determined through careful experimentation and study. At some sites, the moment magnitude was 4.7 0.09, and the seismic moment was in the order of (107 0.19) 1023. (dyne.cm). The stress reduction is 76.3 11.5 (bars) and the source-radius is (850.0 38.0) (m). The ANFIS method predicted pretty accurately as the residuals were distributed uniformly near to the centrelines. The ANFIS approach made fairly accurate predictions, as evidenced by the fact that the residuals were distributed consistently close to the centerlines. The R2, RMSE, and MAE indices demonstrate that the ANFIS accuracy level is superior to that of the ANN. Show more

Abstract: BACKGROUND: The breast cancer subtype deficient in estrogen receptor and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (ER-/HER2-) displays enhanced aggressiveness, metastasis and disease relapse due to chemoresistance. ER-/HER2- patients lack molecularly targeted treatment hence, new therapeutic and prognostic biomarkers are required for better patient management. OBJECTIVES: To investigate the prognostic role of protein tyrosine phosphatase genes in Breast Cancer and their relevance as predictive markers for chemoresistance. METHODS: We examined the expression of 114 protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) genes in 1700 breast cancer patient’s tumor samples with respect to ER-/HER2- subtype. Correlation of relevant candidates with chemoresistance was analyzed in breast …cancer cells resistant to taxane/anthracycline based drugs. The prognostic value of key candidates was assessed using Kaplan Meier plots and Nottingham prognostic index and expression pattern was confirmed using qRT-PCR. The epigenetic regulation was analyzed using ChIP-Seq datasets. By plotting ROC plots, clinical outcome after treatment with taxane and anthracycline was established. RESULTS: Overexpression of CDC25A and CDC25C and under-expression of DUSP16 was observed in tumor samples of ER-/HER2- patients and breast cancer cells. Similar expression patterns of these candidate genes were observed in MCF7 cells resistant to paclitaxel and adriamycin and also correlated with poor prognosis of breast cancer patients. Increased CDC25A and CDC25C in ER-/HER2- cells was found to be regulated epigenetically by histone H3K4 methylation. Overall, the present study establishes increased expression of protein tyrosine phosphatase CDC25C as a poor prognostic marker for breast cancer. CONCLUSION: Our study highlights the role of CDC25C in chemoresistance to taxane and anthracycline based therapy and proposes CDC25C as a potential predictive marker for these cancer therapies. Abstract: The rapid expansion of Internet of Things (IoT) applications and the increasing complexity of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have created a critical need for efficient load balancing strategies. This paper proposes a dynamic load balancing approach for IoT-enabled WSNs using a fuzzy logic-based control mechanism. The proposed method aims to optimize energy consumption, reduce latency, and enhance network lifetime by intelligently distributing the workload among sensor nodes. The fuzzy logic controller takes into account various parameters, such as energy levels, communication distances, and node density, to make adaptive load balancing decisions. The control mechanism allocates tasks to the most suitable …nodes, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and preventing overloading of individual nodes. Simulations are conducted in diverse network scenarios to validate the performance of the proposed approach. Results demonstrate significant improvements in energy efficiency, latency reduction, and overall network lifetime compared to traditional load balancing techniques. The fuzzy logic-based control mechanism proves to be a promising solution for addressing the dynamic and resource-constrained nature of IoT-enabled WSNs, paving the way for more robust and resilient networks in various IoT applications. Abstract: We report a case of thalamic mixed germ cell tumor of in a 13-year-old boy. The boy presented with headache, generalized seizures and right-sided paresis of recent onset. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a mass in the left thalamus with hydrocephalus. The histopathological examination of operated mass showed an immature teratoma with large areas of germinomatous components. The predominant components of immature teratoma were composed of several types of tissue representing different germinal layers (endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm) and showing varying degrees of differentiation. This was diagnosed as a mixed germ cell tumor. A subgroup of tumor secretes …specific tumor markers, including α-fetoprotein and β-human chorionic gonadotrophin, which may be helpful in pre-operative diagnosis. Germinomas most often occur in pineal or supraseller region but occasionally develop in highly unusual locations like the thalamus. Those presenting in unusual locations pose a diagnostic challenge. Abstract: BACKGROUND: Up to 43% of HIV-infected patients co-infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis experience exacerbations of tuberculosis (TB) after commencing antiretroviral therapy (ART). These are termed immune restoration disease (IRD). It is unclear why individual susceptibility varies. OBJECTIVE: We investigate if single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in genes encoding cytokines, chemokines and their receptors associate with development of an IRD event in patients of two different ethnicities. METHODS: DNA samples were available from small well-characterised groups of HIV patients treated in Cambodia (TB-IRD, n=17; HIV^{+} TB^{+} controls, n=55) and India (TB-IRD, n=19; HIV^{+} TB^{+} controls, n= 43). HIV patients with a TB diagnosis …but no evidence of IRD were included to control for susceptibility to TB per se. Sixteen SNP implicated in inflammation or mycobacterial disease were genotyped. RESULTS: Susceptibility to TB-IRD associated with carriage of TNFA-1031*T (rs1799964; P=0.05) and SLC11A1 D543N*G (rs17235409; P=0.04) in Cambodian patients and carriage of IL18-607*G (rs1946518; P=0.02) and VDR FokI (F/f)*T (rs10735810; P=0.05) in Indian patients. CONCLUSIONS: Associations between polymorphisms in immune-related genes and TB-IRD were found, but none were common across two ethnicities. Show more
