Summary

edit
Description A roller, part of the lift mechanism for the southbound lanes of the Interstate Bridge on I-5 in Portland, broke on Nov. 21. The roller was removed and the southbound span, which opened in 1958, was reopened at 4:20 a.m. Friday after a closure of four-and-a-half hours. Bridge engineers authorized bridge tenders to operate the southbound span at half speed until a new roller can be manufactured and installed.
