Family Trusted created its child ID software at the request of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), a non-profit organization co-founded in 1984 by the President of the United States and John Walsh, host of the America’s Most Wanted TV show. More than 2,100 children are reported to law enforcement as missing daily, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Walsh co-founded NCMEC to provide assistance to parents, children, law enforcement, schools and the community in recovering missing children and to raise public awareness about preventing child abduction, molestation and sexual exploitation.
NCMEC encourages parents to assemble a personal profile for each child that can be accessed and distributed immediately in the event of an emergency. Time is critical in the recovery of a missing child, and NCMEC relies on parents' rapid response to the request for information.
