Home - Audenshaw Labour Party - Working for Audenshaw
Description
Audenshaw is located in the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, and is in the District Assembly area of Denton and Audenshaw. Audenshaw is covered by the parliamentary constituency of Denton and Reddish where Andrew Gwynne (Labour) is the MP.
Audenshaw was originally a Hamlet, one of the four areas of the old parish of Ashton. It was predominately a rural area containing few houses and very little industry. There are few old houses left within Audenshaw due to the creation of three reservoirs between 1877-1882.
However Audenshaw soon progressed into an industrial area which was predominately focused around mining. Once the coal slump set in years later, Audenshaw, just like the rest of Tameside, moved towards the engineering and light industry.
