- TriviaMany of the crew members were living in tents because of Hurricane Katrina's devastation of Louisiana shortly before this movie was shot.
- GoofsMegan reads a Fortean Times magazine article on the summer solstice, which states "For scientists, this simply means that the sun will be at its closest point to the Earth..." This is not the definition of the summer solstice, and is not true. Perihelion is the point in Earth's orbit at which it is closest to the sun, and occurs in January. The sun is actually farthest from the Earth in July. Scientists would know this.

They're Gonna Party Like It's 1995
This movie is super weird because despite allegedly being set in the summer of 2006 and being released theatrically in 2008 every single main character is dressed (and all the women's hair is coiffed) like it's still the late 1990s.
What's even weirder is that not even one person has a cell phone, not one flip phone or even a pager, despite being the upper middle class privileged teens of well-to-do white Southern families.
At the climax of the film, Amanda Seyfried's character uses a landline - not just a land line, but an 1980s style wall phone with the curly connecting wire not even a 90s cordless land line.
I know Southern red states are 20 years behind everyone else, but this director appeared to have taken that sentiment literally in the most confusing possible way.
Solstice isn't bad for a made-for-tv movie from 1990s cable. Except that it's not.
