Through 2011’s Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (directed by Rupert Wyatt) to 2014’s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (with Matt Reeves taking over directing duties), we’ve seen how humans have succumbed to an outbreak of a deadly virus, and how an uneasy truce between our species and the apes disintegrated thanks to Caesar’s vengeful second-in-command, Koba (Toby Kebbell).

With photos this adorable, you'd think it impossible for there to be anything controversial about Prince George's birthday. Well, that's what you'd think. Nonetheless, George's too-cute-for-words birthday photos are gaining some attention for reasons other than the adorable factor. In one of the birthday photos, George is seen holding up an ice cream treat to the family's cocker spaniel, Lupo. A sweet gesture the fondness George has for his four-legged friend, right? While that might be, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Rscpa) says that George's good intentions may have negative consequences. • Want to keep up with the latest royals coverage?...

Yes, it's true: Admiral Ackbar will return for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as confirmed by the original actor, Tim Rose, who will play the space crustacean once again.
Speaking to Aap Sydney, Rose has let slip his cameo, though he's not that pleased about all this secrecy malarky LucasFilm are insisting on.
"I'm very frustrated by [the secrecy on the film]," he said. "Out of the need to be secret, we're not actually able to get everything we need to do our jobs as well as we could, and as someone who has been doing it for 35 years, I find it very frustrating."
Famed for his fear-inducing catchphrase "It's a trap!", Ackbar was first seen on screen in Return of the Jedi, commanding from his Mon Calamari cruiser Home One.
That's right, the extra-terrestrial shrimp species are called the "Mon Calamari", and there's nothing you can do about it (except ask for some...

With 'Force Friday' underway and demand high for merchandise surrounding "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," it comes as no surprise that media reports regarding the franchise have been flying around thick and fast today. One such report that has garnered attention is a new interview with C-3Po actor Anthony Daniels.
Chatting with The Guardian, Daniels reveals he has not been happy about all the secrecy surrounding the film and the level of scrutiny he's under - which saw him getting chastised for a tweet during production:
"I said that I'd met so-and-so. An actor who plays a... thing in the film. A character. Immediately I received a message from Disney: 'Remove the tweet! You're not allowed to say that!' Honestly. It's a kind of Kremlin attitude.
Look, I know perfectly well not to tell you now what I'm giving you for a Christmas present because it would spoil the surprise.

C-3Po actor Anthony Daniels is pulling no punches in criticising George Lucas's infamous Star Wars prequels and sharing the downside of working for Disney.
Daniels is reprising his role as the loveable droid in director Jj Abrams's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first in a new trilogy to begin this holiday season.
Everything we know about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including trailers, cast, release date and spoilers
Speaking to The Guardian, the actor rather candidly discussed Abrams's decision to use practical sets rather than solely rely on CGI for Episode VII.
"George has changed a lot over the years but I think he finds it slightly hard to collaborate," Daniels said. "He made decisions that I believe might have been better discussed with other people. Jj is more collaborative. He likes to listen."
The star then said of Lucas's CGI prequels: "The effects are clever but pointless.

Stephen Fry has addressed the possibility of a Bit of Fry and Laurie reunion.
During tonight's (February 7) edition of The Jonathan Ross Show, the comedian says "never say never" about making a return, but admits that both he and Hugh Laurie see sketch comedy as "a young person's game".
"We do miss it," Fry admitted. "I see him as often as possible... and we just fit right back into our old modes of speech and silliness and it's divine…
"We talk about [performing together again] but generally speaking feel that sketch comedy is a young person's game."
He continued to tell Ross: "Never say never. We talk about it and who knows?
"Maybe I think the thing we'd most like to do - because it's somehow just more direct and fun than recording sketches in a studio - is to go on the road and play theatres and things, not necessarily stadiums exactly...

Investors in film financing given chance to settle tax liability or risk disputes 'accelerated to litigation'
Hm Revenue & Customs is to write to some of Britain's wealthiest bankers, hedge fund managers and celebrities offering a chance to settle income tax avoidance schemes estimated to have sheltered more than £3.5bn through film financing structures and other tax-motivated partnerships.
It is unclear how generous the settlement offer will be, but Hrmc insisted such an approach was "the best opportunity to resolve these disputes in a way which was cost-effective and consistent with the law".
Hmrc vowed that those who did not take up the offer would risk "accelerated disputes into litigation".
Among those to have participated in tax-efficient film partnership schemes organised by Soho-based Ingenious Media – one of the largest film partnership firms – are footballers Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney; business figures Sir James Dyson and Lord Hollick; and pop stars Peter Gabriel and Robbie Williams.

Barbara Walters has named the boy band One Direction to her annual list of "Most Fascinating People" — but it seems she has a favorite.
“Harry’s the sexier one!” Walters said when In Touch asked which of the band's six members stood out out to her. She called the boys "all adorable," and marveled at their popularity. “In Sweden, they had young women — barebreasted — pushing their breasts on their car so that they could actually see the nipple marks on the window,” she said.
Harry has recently made headlines for his burgeoning relationship with Taylor Swift (the pair are nicknamed "Haylor"). He and the rest of One Direction join the likes of Gabby Douglas and Hillary Clinton as one of Walters' "Most Fascinating People" of 2012. On Tuesday, Walters revealed that she also named TLC reality star Honey Boo Boo to the list.

Barbara Walters has revealed that she has named Honey Boo Boo one of her 'Most Fascinating People' this year. The 7-year-old beauty queen will join people including Hillary Clinton and Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas on the list, Us Weekly reports. Explaining her decision, Walters described the TLC show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo as a "love story", adding: "It's a very sweet, loving story." "A lot of people will say, 'For heaven's sake, this is ridiculous, this is a child at 5 or 6 years old entering beauty contests'," Walters acknowledged. Honey Boo Boo has officially fascinated Barbara Walters.
The reality TV star whose real name is Alana Thompson was named one of Walters' most "Fascinating People" of 2012. Walters feels the legacy of the "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" reality star is touching.

Kathleen Turner as Molly Ivins
Those of you in the Los Angeles area have two enticing theater options coming up. The first -- an absolute must see -- is the Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies. It's coming to La soon from Broadway intact but for Bernadette Peters who will be replaced by another major but less famous talent, Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza). The other theater option is currently playing. I can't vouch for since I haven't seen it, but it's the one and only Kathleen Turner playing Molly Ivins in the one woman show Red Hot Patriot.
I have however seen Kathleen Turner live on stage twice (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and High) and she doesn't lose even one ounce of her charisma or gift on the stage the way many screen stars do when they attempt the transfer. Earlier this week she had...

Actor best known for her nuanced portrayal of a faded screen idol in Veronika Voss, directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder
According to the German actor and writer Peter Berling, the most important thing for the director Rainer Werner Fassbinder was "to surround himself with people who needed him for their own survival … from the beginning he wanted to create a 'family', something he himself never had". One devoted member of this family was Rosel Zech, who has died of bone cancer aged 69.
Sadly, Veronika Voss (1982), in which Zech became a Fassbinder star, was the director's penultimate film, released less than four months before his death, at the age of 37, of a drug overdose. "I never felt so comfortable with any other director," Zech declared. "We were just at the beginning and had many plans together." One of these was a biopic of the writer and activist Rosa Luxemburg, the uncompleted...

Over the course of his still young career, Justin Bieber has managed to appeal to people across a number of different genre lines. His ubiquity in the pop world is undeniable, and he is continuously picking up credibility in the R&B and hip-hop worlds as well (thanks to a number of key collaborations and endorsements). However, it's unlikely that Bieber will appeal to the metal community any time soon, though that could certainly change when the Super Bowl rolls around. Bieber will appear alongside Ozzy Osbourne in an advertisement for Best Buy that will air during the big game on Sunday night, February 6. The content of the ad is being kept under wraps, but it marks the first time that Bieber will be teaming up with Osbourne and will certainly make for unlikely bedfellows for both of them.

Host/comic Craig Robinson was careful to hike up the drama and delay the announcement as much as possible. Funny for us, yes, but probably not appreciated by the two tense finalists.

More SAG/AFTRA news
Now that they've agreed to stop their bickering and return to the bargaining table to jointly negotiate their contracts, it's time for SAG to AFTRA to take that final step: They need to get married.
They met and had a baby in the 1950s. They called the child Television. Before that, SAG represented movie actors and AFTRA represented radio performers and recording artists (this was before the "T" -- for television -- was added to its name). But when the baby came along, their parent organization, the AFL-CIO, decided to split custody: SAG would get jurisdiction over primetime and AFTRA would get everything else: daytime soaps, late-night shows and the news. And it sort of made sense. After all, the sudsers had started on the radio, and broadcast news did, too.
Joint custody worked out Ok for a while, but there always were simmering tensions over sharing jurisdiction.

Jeremy Paxman has rejected suggestions that University Challenge has become easier over time. The host of the quiz show for higher education students told the Radio Times that the questions on the programme are in fact harder than they used to be. Paxman said: "For heaven's sake, do you watch the show? We have intentionally made the questions harder... And they get harder still as the series progresses. "It might be interesting to speculate on why it is that a quiz in which much of the audience doesn't expect to get most of the answers right achieves such spectacular ratings, in a difficult slot." He added: "I think it proves that television doesn't have to dumb down. (more)...
