Season 6 of “Outlander” aired between March and May of this year, which made it eligible for the 2022 Emmy nominations. Unfortunately, the Starz fantasy epic was completely snubbed when the noms were announced on the morning of Tuesday, July 12. All 14 “Outlander” actors that were submitted for Emmy consideration came up empty-handed, including Caitriona Balfe (who plays time-traveling doctor Claire Randall Fraser) and Sam Heughan (who plays her Highlander true love Jamie Fraser), as did all of the show’s behind-the-scenes talent.
It’s not the first time “Outlander” fans found themselves disappointed when the series wound up not nominated by Emmy voters. In fact, the first five seasons only nabbed a grand total of four below-the-line bids: music score (2015), production design (2016) and costumes (2016 and 2018). The popular program still has yet to receive any above-the-line Emmy love for its actors, writers, directors or producers.

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan lead a parade of 14 actors whose performances will be considered by the television academy. As usual, Balfe’s performance as heroine Claire Fraser is entered into the Best Drama Actress race, where perhaps her recent appearance in the Oscar-winning “Belfast” could help boost her into the top six for the very first time. Heughan is gunning for his first nom for Best Drama Actor as Jamie Fraser. They’re followed by a whopping 10 supporting actors including Sophie Skelton as Claire and Jamie’s daughter Bree. Two guest stars are entered on the ballot: Maria Doyle Kennedy and David Berry, both for the episode “Give Me Liberty.”

The overnight buzz surrounding last week’s Critics Choice Awards was enough to catapult the March 13 show to the top of Variety’s Trending TV chart for the week of March 14-20, as viewers continued digging into all of the night’s highlights, controversies and big wins.
The live broadcast on The CW and TBS drummed up another 567,000 engagements with viewers this week, bringing the show’s total to more than 2 million engagements and marking a two-week run at No. 1.
Upcoming Disney Plus series “Ms. Marvel” was close behind this week with 526,000 engagements, landing in No. 2 ahead of its June 8 premiere. A large chunk of that engagement surrounded the March 15 trailer drop, which officially introduced Marvel’s first Muslim superhero to the world.
The future is in her hands.

Jamie, Claire and their family at Fraser’s Ridge are facing much more than the coming of the American Revolution as “Outlander” returns for Season 6 Sunday night on Starz.
This season, the tight-knit Fraser clan — Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Brianna (Sophie Skelton), Roger (Richard Rankin), Marsali (Lauren Lyle) Fergus (César Domboy) and Ian (John Bell) — will have to navigate new threats from Richard Brown and the Brownsville community, and brewing tensions with a pious Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones), who Jamie clashed with two decades ago at Ardsmuir Prison following the battle at Culloden.
Jamie and Claire’s bond will always be strong, and they’ll have to draw on each other’s love and support as outside pressures threaten to tear apart the community they’ve built in the new world. Things won’t be as easy for the younger couples – Roger and Bree, and Marsali and...

Outlander is almost back and the Frasers are dealing with a lot, from suspicious new settlers to the fallout from last season’s attack by the Browns. Now, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are navigating new waters as they grapple with her trauma, something that will play a major role as Season 6 unfolds. As viewers will recall, when we last saw the Fraser matriarch in the fifth season, she was kidnapped and brutally attacked by Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy) and his men. Jamie, Ian (John Bell), Roger (Richard Rankin), and Fergus (César Domboy) all came to her rescue and eliminated the men involved — all but Lionel, who was brought back to Fraser’s Ridge, where Marsali (Lauren Lyle) put him to death with a lethal injection. But even though she is now safe at home in the sixth season, Claire’s horrors are still simmering at just below the surface.

Just when “Outlander” fans thought the Frasers could enjoy some quality family time on the homestead, tragedy struck again on Sunday night’s “Monsters and Heroes” when Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Roger (Richard Rankin) went out hunting for buffalo to prepare for the winter. It was immediately clear the excursion would be an opportunity for son- and father-in-law to further bond despite their differences, but what neither of them bargained for was Jamie being bit by a venomous snake that did worse than leave him feeling like “a mouldy pile of tripe.”
From that moment on the episode focused on Jamie’s battle to survive, first in the forest where he and Roger were forced to camp, and then later on at Fraser’s Ridge as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) tended to his worsening injuries. Despite Roger’s quick thinking he wasn’t able to cut and suck all of the venom out of the bite,...
