Yaariyan is a 2014 Bollywood college-based romance adventure film directed by Divya Khosla Kumar,[2] starring Himansh Kohli, Serah Singh and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles.[3] It marks the debut of the director[4] as well as the lead star cast. The film was produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner of T-Series Super Cassettes Industries.
Shot in St. Bede's College, Shimla, Yaariyan tells the story of close knit 5 friends who are exploring the best moments of their lives in college, experiencing different relationships and learning new values every day. The theatrical trailer of the film released around 30 October 2013. It has crossed over 1 million views in just a few weeks.[5] The film released on 10 January 2014.[6]

Development
Early 2012, Bhushan Kumar made the announcement of making a film in college romance genre and that Divya Khosla Kumar would be the director.[citation needed] Soon, an announcement was released that the star cast of the film will also include new comers Himansh Kohli[7] (last seen in TV show Humse Hai Life) on Channel [V],[8] Rakul Preet Singh (Miss India 2011 worked in Kannada, Telugu & Tamil movies),[9] and Nicole Faria (Miss Earth 2010 popular in Modeling Industry).[10] This movie will bring to the industry new director and new young star cast, including Bollywoods rising starlet half-German half-Indian Evelyn Sharma[11] to play an angelic dream girl. The movie also has senior actors like Gulshan Grover[12] and Deepti Naval[13] play important characters in the movie.
The title of the movie was registered with Saif Ali Khan[14] (for the movie Cocktail) who gladly gave away the rights to his friend Bhushan Kumar[15] to use for this film.
The production budget of film is ₹11 crore (US$1.3 million)[1]
Filming
The shoot began in Mumbai[16] followed by shoots in Australia and then Sikkim and Darjeeling.[17] 'Yaariyan' is the first ever movie to be shot in Sikkim.[18]
