Proxicharonia palmeri is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Ranellidae, the tritons.
Distribution
This species is endemic to the east coast and offshore islands of Northland in New Zealand.
Habitat
This triton lives at depths of about 40 m.
Shell description
The shell is small, solid, and narrowly ovate. The body whorl is slightly swollen on the left side. The aperture is narrowly ovate. Adult sculpture consists of closely spaced granulose cords, overriding a peripheral series of large bluntly rounded nodes, five or six between the varices.
Coloration of the shell is golden-brown, with the aperture and callus white.
The shell height is up to 50 mm, and the width is up to 23 mm.
