Gursharan Singh pronunciation (born March 8, 1963, Amritsar, Punjab) is a former Indian cricketer who played in one Test and one ODI in 1990.Gursharan is now a senior manager with Steel Authority of India,Delhi.[1]

First class career

Gursharan Singh played first-class cricket for 15 years and holds a world record of maximum catches — four — as the 12th man in Ahmedabad Test against the West Indies in 1984.His highest score was 298 not out against Bengal in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals at the Eden Gardens in 1989. He captained Punjab to its only Ranji Trophy triumph so far.[2][3]

On November 4,1989,Gursharan Singh represented Rest of India then and was pitted against Delhi in Wankhede staium,Mumbai; a few days before the Indian team travelled to Pakistan.He had returned to the pavilion earlier in the innings when a Sanjeev Sharma delivery fractured a finger on his right hand. But Gursharan walked out to bat, on instructions from chairman of selectors Raj Singh Dungarpur.Later Gursharan came to bat at the last and helped Sachin Tendulkar to reach his first Irani trophy century.[4][5]
