On December 20 2006, it was announced by ITV, that they will be making a similar UK series [1] under the same name Grease Is The Word[2], to air in late 2007. The show will be produced by Syco TV (the production company of Simon Cowell). The judges will be Simon Cowell and David Ian (the producer of the stage show) and an unknown judge, the host is also unknown. Unlike the NBC series, the ITV programme will not be based (at least directly) on the Maria format, which is owned by the BBC.
