Community
This section consists of many parts including support forums, contributions section, roadmaps and photo galleries.
Support Forums
Support forums have currently about 123000 community members which help each other to get osCommerce work for them in the right way. The community support forums provides a means to communicate with community members and project enthusiasts located all over the world, where people help each other out, discuss project features, and participate in development issues.
Add Ons
The Community Add Ons (formally known as Contributions) is an area on the osCommerce site where the forum users can share code in formal manner. Contributors can upload code for distribution and the general public is free to download any Add On they wish. All Add Ons must be issued under GNU General Public License and be free of charge to download and to use.
While there are conventions for how Add Ons should be provided in terms of installation instructions, file naming conventions and directory structures osCommerce.com does not undertake any code reviews or tests that the contributed code is fit for purpose. Therefore while there are over 5000 add-ons available many are not well coded and care should always be taken as to their use.
Showcases
This section contains demos for the people to have a look how osCommerce shop looks like. This section also contains links to live shops from which people can get the idea of how things can be modified and made working for them. You can say that this is a “try before you install” section.
Partners
As osCommerce is free and open source, it needs money to get the development working. For that purpose anyone can contribute to them. This section shows the list of contributors and links to their live shops if there are any. You can also be on this page, just donate a few bucks to osCommerce and help it continue the good work.
