Hong Kong Ultimate Players Association
Description
The Hong Kong Ultimate Players Association (the "HKUPA") is a non-profit organization registered under the Hong Kong Societies Ordinance. The HKUPA is a member (observing) of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, a National Sports Association of Hong Kong and a member of the World Flying Disc Federation.
As you may know, it is difficult to get playing field time in Hong Kong and it costs money to use a field. As a registered society the HKUPA is eligible to book and pay for fields in advance. Bookings are arranged through the efforts of HKUPA members and the money to pay for the fields comes from HKUPA membership fees and pick-up session fees. The HKUPA books and pays for fields for a weekly pick up game all year round. We generally book a three-hour time slot for 10 months of the year. As summers are hot and attendance tends to be light our pick up games in July and August are only one and a half hours.
The HKUPA runs a 12-week league in the spring and another 12-week league in the fall with games typically being played on a weeknight. League participants pay a separate league fee which in the past has been HK$200.00 per league. We also organize one or two beach tournaments during the year, participate in the Hong Kong Festival of Sport and host the Pan-Asian Ultimate Tournament each fall. The HKUPA receives invitations to various ultimate tournaments around Asia during the course of the year. We pass this information on to our members and in some cases make group travel arrangements for the traveling team.
