Cornish Horticulture Enterprises
Description
Cornwall is renowned for its freedom of frost and mild weather conditions, which is not only attractive to holiday makers, but, also creates a first class environment to grow quality produce.
Horticulture has a significant impact on the Cornish rural economy and in particular, West Cornwall. The value of the industry is approaching £60 million at farm gate values, excluding retailing. The current value of added value is about £13 million.
There are three large grower/marketing companies, plus an additional twenty individual growers of daffodils, flowers and bulbs within the county. These make up a growing area of 1750 hectares.
